Established in 1981, the SCHOOL OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING (EEE) is one of the founding Schools of the Nanyang Technological University. Built on a culture of excellence, the School is renowned for its high academic standards and research. With about 120 faculty members and an enrolment of more than 3,000, of which about 2,000 are graduate students.

Today, the School has become one of the world’s largest engineering schools that nurtures competent engineers and researchers. Each year, the School graduates over a thousand students who are ready to take on great ambitions and challenges.

The Nanyang Technological University (NTU) invites applications for the position of Visiting Professor in Quantum Nanophotonics and Optical Spectroscopy at the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE).

NTU has developed a world-leading position in fundamental research on photonics, quantum technologies, advanced optical materials, and light–matter interactions. Further development in quantum-enabled photonics, optical nanomaterials, advanced microscopy, and spectroscopy-based characterization will strengthen NTU’s capabilities in next-generation photonic technologies and advanced optical sensing platforms. In this connection, the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) is seeking to appoint a Visiting Professor with strong achievements in quantum photonics, nano-optics, and photon-correlation spectroscopy. The candidate is expected to contribute to NTU’s research development, postgraduate training, and academic collaborations in emerging photonic technologies and advanced optical characterization.

  • Contribute to NTU’s research activities in quantum photonics, nano-optics, optical materials, and advanced spectroscopy.

  • Deliver seminars, technical talks, or short lectures to support postgraduate training and academic exchange.

  • Engage with NTU faculty, researchers, and students through research discussions, manuscript feedback, and informal academic consultation.

  • Explore potential collaborations and joint research opportunities in emerging photonic technologies and optical characterization.

Requirements:

Candidates with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:

  • Assistant Professor or equivalent academic position in Chemistry, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Materials Science, Applied Physics, Photonics, or a related discipline.

  • Ph.D. degree in a relevant field, with at least 3 years of post-Ph.D. research and academic experience.

  • Strong research background in quantum photonics, nano-optics, optical materials, advanced microscopy, spectroscopy, or related areas.

  • Demonstrated research achievements through high-quality publications, invited talks, patents, awards, or other recognized academic contributions.

  • Experience in teaching, student supervision, research mentoring, or academic service.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Applicants are invited to submit their applications (cover letter, CV, research and teaching statements, and citation report, where applicable) through the NTU career portal.

Review of applications and shortlisting decision will be on an on-going basis until the position is filled. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
