Job Description
Pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) registered nurses provide critical care to infants and children up to Fifteen years old. In addition to providing around-the-clock care to these patients, PICU Registered Nurse offer support to the parents. This parental support can range from emotional encouragement to advising parents on how to take care of a child when they return home. PICU Registered Nurse work as a team member with other nurse practitioners and physicians. Their primary responsibility is to ensure that a child’s critical care treatment is secure.
- Deliver a high standard of evidence-based care to PICU patients.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care needs on an ongoing basis.
- Formulate nursing care plans and evaluate treatment effectiveness.
- Manage patients requiring Level 3 critical care, including:
- Advanced airway management
- Ventilation
- Invasive line management
- Inotropic support
- CVVHDF
- Management of critical emergencies
- Manage patients with advanced airways and ventilator support.
- Provide effective pain management including PCA/PCE.
- Obtain and interpret arterial blood gases (ABG).
- Apply infection control principles at all times.
- Assist physicians in PICU medical procedures.
- Comfort and support anxious parents, providing clear and sensitive updates on care plans and patient condition.
- Review physician-ordered medications for appropriateness.
- Prepare and administer medications using aseptic technique.
- Use specialized medical equipment such as ventilators, nitric oxide machines, cerebral function monitors, and therapeutic cooling machines.
- Safely manage central lines and arterial lines.
- Provide accurate and regular updates to patients and relatives in a sensitive and understandable way.
- Adhere to Dubai Health Authority (DHA) guidelines, clinical guidelines, and all regulatory requirements.
- Uphold high standards of care across all departments.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

- UAE Medical Health Authority License.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or Degree in Nursing (minimum two years course duration) And Registration as a Registered Nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia.
- Has worked in hospital or similar setting for at least 2 years.
- Resuscitation Certificate as per the specialty& Demonstrable ongoing and active Continues Personal Development (CPD)
- Supports quality patient care by showing empathy, maintaining patient dignity, and following proper protocols.
- Proficient in basic computer applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), with the ability to manage digital documentation and communication effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, patients, and stakeholders.
