About the Position
Pond is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer – Power Systems Studies to join our growing team of Energy Professionals. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of related experience and a strong interest in collaborating, innovating, and supporting complex electrical system studies across a wide range of energy markets.
In this role, you will support Pond’s Electrical System Studies efforts for clients across the United States. Projects will span multiple markets and geographies, offering opportunities to broaden your expertise in power system analysis and design. The Senior Electrical Engineer will serve as a technical contributor and task lead, supporting and executing system studies while collaborating closely with project managers, discipline leads, and other engineers.
This position emphasizes hands-on technical work, technical mentorship, and client interaction, without formal people management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Perform and support electrical system studies and analyses for utility, power delivery, renewable energy, and industrial clients
Execute and review system studies including load flow, short-circuit, coordination, arc flash, and other advanced analyses as required
Support advanced studies such as steady-state and dynamic power flow, contingency analysis, voltage stability, transient stability, harmonics, time-series power flow, and protection studies for generation and renewable sources
Utilize industry-standard power systems software such as PSS®E, PSCAD, CYME, ETAP, SKM, or similar tools
Coordinate with project managers and technical leads to support scope development, schedules, and execution plans
Support preparation, review, and quality control of engineering deliverables, including technical reports and study documentation
Collaborate directly with clients to gather data, clarify technical requirements, and review study results
Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and client presentations
Provide technical guidance and informal mentorship to junior engineers
Support proposal development by contributing technical input, methodologies, and effort estimates
Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; Master’s degree encouraged
10+ years of experience performing electrical system studies
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
Experience supporting multiple system studies projects simultaneously
Familiarity with Independent System Operators (ISOs) and their technical and interconnection requirements
Demonstrated ability to communicate technical findings clearly to clients and internal teams
Strong ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with a proactive, self-motivated approach
Desire to continue learning and growing technically within the electrical systems studies discipline
