What You'll Do as a Communications Program Administrator

  • Oversee the planning, development & implementation of high-level Public Information & Communication initiatives for the division; Manages complex strategic projects involving external organizations whose stakeholders include executives or local political entities.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Strategic Communications Unit & the Colonels Office/Directors Office to ensure proper preparation for delivering remarks at events; Align internal & external messaging by identifying high-visibility or time-sensitive issues.
  • Develop strategic communications plans to improve information sharing across internal & external agencies; Coordinate messaging between executive leadership, command staff, operational units & partner agencies.
  • Formulate & implement new or modifies existing policies & procedures for Public Information Programs, projects &/or initiatives; Provides recommendations & technical advice to support decision-making & identify corrective actions.
  • Track Colonels Office & Directors Office projects; Identify assignments & timelines; Make prompt, informed decisions during developing situations.

Option 1

4 yrs. trg. or 4 yrs. exp. in business administration management science or public administration. 

 

Option 2

-Or completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, management science or public administration; 

AND 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. in supervisory, administrative &/or managerial position. 

 

Option 3

-Or completion of undergraduate core program in academic field commensurate with program area to be assigned per approved Position Description on file; 

AND 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. in supervisory, administrative &/or managerial position or staff position involving planning, research &/or policy/procedure development. 

 

Option 4

-Or 1 yr. exp. as Program Administrator 1, 63122. 

 

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above

Job Skills: Program Management

 

This position is essential, meaning the duties this job performs are critical to the continued operations of the Ohio Department of Public Safety during a public safety emergency (OAC 123: 1-46-01 & DAS Directive HR-D-11). This position will be required to report for duty during any public safety emergency.
