Vice President of Shared Services

The Vice President of Shared Services (VPSS) is a senior System Office executive responsible for leading a broad portfolio of administrative and strategic functions that support the 17 UNC constituent institutions and the System Office. This role requires a system-wide leader who can translate priorities into scalable, high-impact operating models. The VPSS operates across both executive and operational domains partnering with chancellors and cabinet-level leaders to align priorities and advance system initiatives, while ensuring frontline teams deliver reliable, consistent, and responsive support. This leader brings strong communication, leadership, and systems-thinking capabilities to unify diverse functions into a coordinated, high-performing ecosystem. The VPSS is accountable for building institutional trust, strengthening adoption, and maintaining operational discipline. Through continuous refinement and performance management, the role ensures services deliver measurable value, improved efficiency, and a high standard of performance across the UNC System.
