Position Summary
The Senior Design Consultant leads end-to-end design of complex automated material-handling systems, collaborating closely with sales teams and customers to deliver innovative, best-in-class solutions. This role drives each project from initial concept through contract negotiation and implementation handoff, ensuring solutions leverage the latest industry technologies and provide clear ROI.

Job responsibilities:
- Leads complex automated material handling system design activities that develop solutions supporting Customer objectives
- Collaborates with sales teams and customers to evaluate needs and develop optimal solutions
- Establishes credibility by clearly communicating the design process, alternatives considered, and proposed solutions
- Ensures automated solutions incorporate the latest industry methods and technologies to provide competitive advantage
- Leads internal brainstorming and supplier evaluation to identify best-in-class ideas and partners
- Drives the complete project lifecycle from initial concept analysis through customer presentations, contract negotiations, and implementation handover
- Prepares calculations, material flow diagrams, functional descriptions, and commercial content for quotes and presentations
- Performs internal administrative projects as assigned
- Develops professional proposals and presentations that clearly demonstrate expertise and system design benefits
- Manages cost estimates and ensures costing accuracy
- Participates in trade fairs and events
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering required; Master's or MBA preferred
- Minimum 10 years’ professional experience in comparable roles or 5+ years direct industry experience in intralogistics and material handling technology
- Superior understanding of warehouse, distribution center, and order fulfillment operations
- Ability to thrive in a growth environment and adapt to change
- Strong capability in creating and understanding operational flow requirements
- Highly detail-oriented with ability to manage critical deadlines and multitask effectively
- Advanced capability in data analysis, modeling tools, and automated material handling system design including software
- Strong value engineering and ROI analysis skills
- Knowledge of automated warehouse technology, control systems, and IT for material flow
- Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills
- Superior capability to define and analyze customer data for system requirements
- Proven leadership with internal resources, suppliers, and customers
- Strong mentoring motivation
- Willingness to travel extensively (30–60%). Access to reliable auto transportation and a major US airport
- Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office Suite--Hubspot and Power BI are a plus
- Sandler training a plus
Working conditions
This position, at times, must work in challenging, non-standard environments. This could include:
- Time of day: Monday - Friday
- Day of week: Evenings and weekends as required
- Strenuous Activity: Continuous walking throughout the shift, standing on your feet the entire shift.
