Position Title: Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Practitioner
Location: Methodist Hospital, Operating Room
Schedule: Five days a week, 8-hour shifts

Position Overview:
The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Practitioner utilizes expertise and clinical judgment to enhance and influence the professional growth and competence of learners across various settings, with the ultimate goal of supporting the IU Health Way. This role focuses on onboarding and orientation, competency management, education, role development, fostering collaborative partnerships, and inquiry. The Specialist functions at the unit or facility level, partnering closely with leaders and stakeholders to meet strategic goals and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead onboarding and orientation programs for new staff and learners.
- Manage clinical competencies and ongoing professional development activities.
- Develop, deliver, and evaluate educational programs aligned with organizational standards and needs.
- Support role development and facilitate continuous professional growth.
- Build and maintain effective collaborative partnerships with leaders and team members.
- Promote a culture of inquiry, continuous learning, and evidence-based practice.
- Partner with unit and facility leadership to achieve strategic educational and operational goals.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree of Nursing (BSN) required.
- Licensure:
- Active RN license in Indiana or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
- Graduation from a nationally accredited nursing program.
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department policies.
- Experience:
- Two years of clinical or educational experience preferred.
- Operation Room Experience Strongly Preferred
- Additional Skills:
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of adult learning principles.
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed to support system-wide educational initiatives.
