3005 Radiology Mgmt Clerical

Schedule: Second Shift. 37.5 hours weekly.  M-F, 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm

About the Position

Greets patients and notifies appropriate modality of patient’s arrival, assists physicians with reports, burns images to CD’s, pushes images to the Cloud, assists with incoming telephone calls, prepares proper documentation for release of imaging and reports, transmittal of STAT interpretations, and accurately records appointment notes for all STAT exams to include the employee’s name receiving the information, nursing unit, ER, or provider’s office, and time when the Radiology Assistant notified that the STAT exams had been dictated and are available in Epic.

Overview of Responsibilities

  • Greets patient and notifies the appropriate modality of patient’s arrival when working the inpatient front desk.

  • Learns and becomes proficient with the functions of EPIC as pertains to the functions necessary for Radiology.

  • Assists physicians with image retrieval and report results.

  • Must be flexible to work at any workstation when needed.

  • Ensures accurate transmission of STAT interpretations by calling ER, physician’s office, or nursing unit, and completes Actionable Finding results as noted by the Radiologists.

  • Has knowledge of PACS imaging system.

  • Performs reception duties such as initial patient greeting, answering telephone, transmission of messages, and the ability to make outgoing calls.

  • Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work area.

  • Participates in weekend and holiday coverage on a rotational basis or as needed.

  • Cooperates with all hospital personnel and customers, maintaining proper conduct and professionalism.

  • Participates in the training of new personnel.

  • Performs other assigned, related duties as required by the radiologists, director, and/or supervisors.

  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for problem solving in the department.

  • Demonstrates awareness of fire/safety hazards by keeping current with hospital guidelines.

  • Involved in QA&I activities as relates to the work area, as well as reviewing these systems on a quarterly basis.

  • Answers routine questions regarding operations and procedures in a fashion perceived as friendly and helpful from customers and co-workers.

  • Calls transport companies to pick up patients at the conclusion of their procedure.

  • Takes inventory of supplies.

  • Assists patients, Central Scheduling, and Registrars with scheduling concerns.

  • Works with RHPA offices to understand and communicate issues to the patient.

  • Assists patients with directions including walking them to other areas as needed.

  • Burns images to CDs or pushes them through the Cloud for patient and/or physician requests.

  • Has knowledge of downtime processes for all areas.

  • Retrieves images from other facilities.

  • Obtain proper prep for patients.

Education & Experience

  • Education Required: High school diploma.

  • Education Preferred: Medical terminology and computer skills.

  • Experience Required: English competency, legible handwriting, accurate typing, good telephone skills, and the ability to multi-task.

  • Experience Preferred: Familiarity with medical terminology and computer experience.
