Sr. Laboratory Assistant - Construction Builder
Job Description
The Senior Laboratory Assistant Construction Builder supports daily laboratory operations in a fully onsite role at the Northbrook Laboratory. This position is highly hands-on and is performed in a construction focused laboratory environment that closely resembles an active job site. Responsibilities include managing workstations, equipment, samples, and test setups, as well as performing and supporting test operations.
A substantial portion of the role involves physical construction activities such as building blank roof decks, installing shingles on small roof assemblies, hot mopping spread decks, maintaining laboratory work areas, and dismantling and disposing of tested materials. The role requires consistent engagement in manual labor and the safe use of construction tools and materials.
Candidates should have prior experience in construction or skilled manual labor, with demonstrated proficiency using hand tools such as hammers and nail guns. Experience with roofing systems and forklift operation is strongly preferred. Senior Laboratory Assistants are expected to progress toward independently conducting laboratory tests through on-the-job training.
