The Human Resources Generalist will assist with daily functions of the HR department including hiring, wage and benefit administration, leave administration, training, and administering company policies and practices.
What you'll do:
- Implement and maintain Schreiber HR policies and practices.
- Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to policies, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; peer review and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; DEI; environmental health and safety; and training and development.
- Develop standard work for HR roles and drive the process to improve individual and team performance.
- Provide appropriate department coverage for plant partner and leadership support.
- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with required training, assessments, stay interviews and exit interviews.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and leaders, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Participate on teams that develop competitive wage, incentive and benefit programs for the plant.
- Partner with the local community organizations to foster a positive community relationship.
- Partner with counterparts in other plants to improve hiring and retention results.
- Coordinates social sustainability audits or similar.
What you need to succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources or related field
- 6+ years of human resources or related experience preferred
- General understanding of organizational behavior, recruitment, employment law and related disciplines.
- SHRM-CP preferred
- Desire to grow as an HR professional, either within the role, or beyond the role into an HR Supervisor.
- Willingness to assist other HR teams within the Schreiber network as needed.
- Well-developed organizational skills and high attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Results-oriented & self-directed.
- Forward thinking, ability to prioritize and delegate appropriately.
- Excellent time management and proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to evaluate the financial impact of various labor deployment approaches.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism and confidentiality.
- Thorough knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
- Proficiency with or ability to quickly learn Workday HCM & UKG systems
- Ability to travel up to 25% occasionally to other Schreiber locations.
