Oxford University Press East Africa Limited (OUPEA) furthers the University's mission in research, scholarship, and education by publishing quality educational materials for Kenya and within the region (Tanzania, Uganda & Rwanda).

OUPEA is seeking to recruit a high caliber, results oriented, experienced, and highly skilled professional for the position of Assistant Education Bussiness Advisor- Nairobi region for a period of 8 months.

 

About the role

The Assistant Education Business Advisor will be responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding market share, and deepening customer relationships within Nairobi. The role requires a proactive, customer-centric approach to school engagement, distributors management, and pipeline development, in alignment with OUPEA’s commercial objectives and Code of Conduct.

The appointed individual will be reporting to the Regional Sales Manager-Eastern Block.

 

Key Accountabilities:

1. Sales budget attainment

  • Develop and execute a structured Nairobi County territory plan and call cycle.
  • Build and sustain a robust sales pipeline across public and private schools.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the assigned territory.

 

2. Field Activity & Territory Coverage

  • Maintain a structured route plan and daily school visits aligned.
  • Conduct daily school visits in the designated region.
  • Ensure timely documentation of school visit outcomes.

3. Key Account Management

  • Identify, develop, and manage strategic education partners within the territory.
  • Conduct regular engagement sessions, adoption reviews, and joint activity planning in the region.

 

4. Channel & Distributor Management

  • Manage and develop productive relationships with bookshops and distributors.
  • Drive product availability, in-store visibility and sellout initiatives.
  • Improve channel forecasting accuracy through collaborative planning.

 

5. Debt Management & Collections

  • Adhere to OUPEA credit policies ensure timely invoice settlement.
  • Monitor account aging regularly.

 

6. CRM Utilisation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date digital sales records of activities in designated region.
  • Submit weekly and mothly activity reports within stipulated deadlines.
  • Monitor procurement cycles and decision timelines as appropriate.

 

7. Ethics, Compliance & Brand Representation

  • Uphold the OUPEA Code of Conduct and ethical selling standards in all interactions.
  • Represent the OUPEA brand with professionalism and integrity at all school visits, trade engagements, and external events.

 

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree/ higher Diploma in Education, Sales, or Marketing.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in educational sales. Teaching experience in a primary or secondary institution will be an added advantage.
  • Strong understanding of customer segmentation and go-to-market strategies.
  • Strong ethical standards and ability to represent OUPEA professionally.
  • High proficiency in written and spoken English; Kiswahili.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple stakeholders/projects simultaneously.
