Senior Project Manager

What you will be doing:
The Senior Project Manager (Sr. PM) in Construction Management will oversee and manage construction projects from inception to completion. The Sr. PM will ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and extensive experience in construction management.

Project Management:
Providing overall management, administrative, and technical direction for one or more projects.
Reviewing initial drawings and project scope to ensure compliance.
Conducting routine site visits to oversee progress and scheduling of trades.
Identifying and advising senior management of potential problems, work interferences, or schedule difficulties, and assisting in resolving conflicts.
Overseeing the tendering and revision of contracts.
Working with in-house Estimator(s) to review project scope, determine budget allocation, and participate in the proposal stage.
Preparing and monitoring the project master schedule in conjunction with the Project Management team.
Overseeing the preliminary construction schedule with the Project Superintendent and Team.
Signing off on various reports produced by the Project Team, including monthly and submittal reports.
Enforcing company and project policies, acting as the main client interface, and being responsible for project performance, including budget/costs, schedule, quality, and overall status.
Reading, interpreting, analyzing, and forecasting project costs and determining job status in terms of schedule and costing.
Assessing potential risks and notifying owners continuously.
Conducting and managing project meetings as needed.
Ensuring compliance with project construction schedules and budgets, and assuming responsibility for project commissioning.
Implementing the company's Safety Program to create a safe work environment.
Ensuring comprehensive project close-out.
Ensuring coordination and administration of site instructions and change order process.
Negotiating and selecting subcontractors to ensure capability of subcontractor to perform, completeness of scope coverage, and best value.
Advising Senior Management on project execution issues, potential claims, and disputes in a timely fashion.
Identifying required and optional changes in project scope; negotiating change orders with the owner.
Benchmarking efficiency and effectiveness of project activities and acting to improve project outcomes.
Monitoring and tracking equipment and resources inventory.
Acting to resolve disputes between the company and owner, or company and subcontractors, when possible, prior to Project Director’s involvement.
Ensuring that project staff understand the company's operating policies and practices and apply these appropriately.
Liaising with Owners, Consultants, and Trades:
Maintaining excellent relationships with clients, key stakeholders, consultants, and trades.
Meeting with consultants bi-weekly to review progress, discuss changes, and assess budget and schedule impacts.
Providing bi-weekly updates to owners on project status, obstacles, challenges, and changes in timelines or budgets.
Communicating schedules to trades and holding them accountable for meeting deadlines.
Liaising between consultants, trades, and clients to communicate scope changes, discuss implications, and substantiate cases for changes.
Exploring and costing out feasible and creative options for scope changes with consultants and presenting these to clients.
Requesting weekly updates from trades on project progress.
Coordinating scheduling and organizing the order of work with trades.
Preparing monthly reports for owners and presenting for sign-off.
Attending industry events to build relationships and identifying new opportunities.
Leadership and Talent Management:
Providing learning opportunities to junior team members.
Coaching team members and providing constructive feedback for professional growth.
Contributing to regular feedback and evaluating all team members annually.
Mentoring and developing future leaders within the project team.
Promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.Assisting with creating a safe work environment throughout the jobsite and adhering to the safety and record keeping requirements.
Participating in toolbox meetings, safety meetings and safety training
Other duties, as required.
What you will bring:
Construction-related degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.
Strong and effective communication, writing, and computer skills are essential.
A sense of urgency.
Good organizational skills, as well as attention to detail.
Strong initiative.
Ability to perform in a fast-paced construction environment.
Valid driver’s license and vehicle would be beneficial.

Pay Transparency:
The estimated salary range for this role is $155,000- $195,000.
The posted salary range reflects the expected base pay for this role. Actual compensation will depend on job-related skills, experience, and qualifications. SKYGRiD is committed to pay equity and transparency, and further details will be shared during the hiring process.

Possibility of weekend work, based on operational needs
Location:
Greater Toronto Area
Travelling will be required to job site. Having a vehicle would be beneficial.
