About the Role:
The Trade Marketing Associate – Lower Tanzania is accountable for executing Sun King's trade marketing, retail visibility, field activations, and customer engagement initiatives across the region. The role serves as the eyes and ears of the marketing team on the ground, ensuring that Sun King's brand, products, and customer experience are consistently and effectively represented at every customer touchpoint.
Working closely with the Senior Marketing Manager – Lower Tanzania, the Trade Marketing Associate will spend the majority of their time in-market working with agents, retailers, shop teams, and sales teams while gathering valuable customer and channel insights. These insights will help shape localized marketing initiatives, improve retail execution, strengthen customer engagement, and accelerate commercial performance.
The successful candidate recognizes that great marketing begins with insight from activities on the ground and that excellent execution at the point of sale is critical to increasing customer acquisition, customer satisfaction, and sales growth.
The role is highly execution-focused and requires a hands-on professional who is passionate about learning customer behaviour, ensuring excellent retail standards, working closely with agents, and delivering measurable impact from trade marketing investments. A minimum of 80% of working time must be spent in the field engaging with customers, agents, retailers, and shop teams to ensure marketing activities remain locally relevant and commercially effective.
What you would be expected to do:
- Execute regional trade marketing initiatives in line with country and regional marketing plans.
- Contribute to the rollout of campaigns, promotions, product launches, and seasonal marketing activities.
- Coordinate field activation activities including roadshows, market activations, community events, retail promotions, and shop activations.
- Ensure timely deployment and visibility of all marketing materials across the region.
- Monitor campaign execution and provide regular performance feedback and recommendations.
- Contribute to localized marketing initiatives based on customer and agent insights.
- Ensure Sun King branding standards are consistently maintained across all retail and shop touchpoints.
- Conduct regular retail audits across Sun King shops and retail partner locations.
- Monitor product display quality, POSM deployment, pricing visibility, and overall retail presentation.
- Identify visibility gaps and implement corrective actions to improve customer experience and conversion.
- Contribute to new shop openings, branding installations, merchandising improvements, and retail refresh initiatives.
- Ensure products are prominently displayed and aligned with approved merchandising guidelines.
- Spend a minimum of 70% of working time in the field engaging customers, agents, retailers, shop teams, and sales representatives.
- Gather customer feedback and identify emerging needs, concerns, and opportunities.
- Collect agent insights regarding merchandising, customer objections, product performance, financing considerations, and market opportunities.
- Conduct market monitoring and provide insights on pricing, promotions, visibility, and market activities.
- Capture customer testimonials, success stories, and field observations that strengthen marketing effectiveness.
- Submit structured weekly and monthly field insight reports to the Senior Marketing Manager.
Agent, Retail & Branch Engagement
- Build strong relationships with agents, retailers, shop teams, and sales representatives.
- Provide frontline teams with marketing materials, campaign toolkits, and activation resources.
- Ensure agents and retailers are aware of ongoing campaigns, promotions, product launches, and customer offers.
- Assist in training agents and retailers on product benefits, customer engagement techniques, and campaign execution.
- Identify high-performing agents and retailers for recognition and engagement initiatives.
- Gather regular feedback from frontline teams to improve marketing effectiveness and customer experience.
- Execute local customer engagement initiatives that increase awareness, consideration, and product demand.
- Contribute to customer education programmes that increase knowledge of Sun King's products and financing solutions.
- Coordinate community outreach initiatives, roadshows, referral programmes, and grassroots marketing activities.
- Increase participation in regional events and activations.
- Ensure all activations are delivered to a high standard and aligned with Sun King's brand guidelines.
- Collect activation feedback and performance data to improve future initiatives.
- Manage regional inventory of marketing materials and branding assets.
- Coordinate distribution and replenishment of POSM and activation materials.
- Track asset utilization and effectiveness across shops and retail locations.
- Ensure marketing materials are maintained in good condition and deployed according to plan.
- Maintain accurate records of asset allocation and usage.
- Track and report all trade marketing activities, retail audits, activation outcomes, and field observations.

You might be a strong candidate if you have:
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Sales, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in Trade Marketing, Field Marketing, Brand Activation, Retail Marketing, Sales Enablement, or similar execution-focused roles.
- Experience working with retailers, agents, shop operations, or field sales teams.
- Experience within FMCG, Telecommunications, Consumer Electronics, PAYGo, or retail-focused businesses is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of retail execution, customer engagement, and field marketing practices.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively across Lower Tanzania.
