The Opportunity
McElhanney is seeking a motivated and hands-on Civil Engineering Technologist to join our team in Kitimat, BC. As a valued member of our Kitimat team, you will contribute to a diverse range of projects across Northern British Columbia, supporting activities such as construction inspection, materials testing, surveying, site layout, and quality assurance. This role is primarily field-based, offering the opportunity to work directly on infrastructure, industrial, and resource-sector projects while gaining valuable hands-on experience. While familiarity with Civil 3D is considered an asset, the focus of this position is on field operations and project support.

What You’ll Do
Conduct fieldwork, including materials testing, construction inspection, and data collection activities.
Perform soil, concrete, and asphalt testing in accordance with applicable industry standards and project specifications.
Support civil engineering projects through site layout, surveying, quality assurance, and quality control activities.
Assist with construction monitoring, documentation, and reporting.
Collaborate with engineers, technologists, and project managers to support the successful delivery of projects.
Utilize Civil 3D and other software applications for data entry, drafting, and technical support as required.
What You’ll Bring
Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or a related discipline.
1–5 years of relevant experience in civil construction, materials testing, surveying, or a related field.
Registration or eligibility for registration with ASTTBC or an equivalent professional association.
Strong attention to detail, commitment to safety, and a proactive, team-oriented work ethic.
Valid Class 5 driver's license with the ability and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
Experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D and other civil engineering software.
What Can We Offer You?
The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $105,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
