Manager / Snr Manager, Experience Design, Founders' Memorial
Job Description
[What the role is]
Do you love Singapore for punching above its weight as a Little Red Dot? Can you identify with the grit exhibited by our founding leaders and generation as they worked hard to build Singapore to what it is today? If the answer is "yes", join us at the Founders' Memorial (FM)!At the FM, we are creating a brand-new garden-museum experience for Singaporeans, by Singaporeans. A national landmark at the heart of our garden city, uncovering the story of how independent Singapore came to be, and bringing Singaporeans across generations together to reflect and have bold conversations about what our founding values mean today and for our future.
The FM is seeking a suitable candidate to join the Exhibitions team as an experience designer to develop the “FM by Night” experience and special exhibitions. The FM by Night is a special after-hours immersive experience that will transform the Viewing Gallery and outdoor garden of the FM and bring diverse audiences to the FM-Bay East area through light, sound, and multimedia. Our changing special exhibitions will present different themes in Singapore’s pre- and post-independence history in a more accessible and engaging manner to the public.
You will be part of a multidisciplinary internal Exhibition team comprising designers, project managers and digital experts, working alongside a cross-agency project team to bring to life FM by Night. Look forward to being a part of creating a living Memorial that unites, challenges and inspires Singaporeans of all generations towards a brighter future!
[What you will be working on]
Experience Design:
FM by Night: You will work closely with the Project Manager for FM by Night, and take charge of the experience design, working with the FM project and creative teams to conceptualise the narrative and develop a multisensorial outdoor night experience that leverages the unique FM location. The experience should attract a broad audience – with a particular focus on youth – to explore garden and indoor Viewing Gallery after sunset. In the long run, you will plan and manage the periodic refreshes of FM by Night to keep the experience current to continue attracting new and repeat visitors to the Memorial.
Special exhibitions: As a team, you will collaborate with the Education and Curatorial teams to chart the visitor experience and translate the content into interactive, multisensorial and accessible exhibitions. You will identify different partners, including from various industries, to present the content in refreshing and unexpected ways. You will contribute to the full exhibition development cycle, from concept through to delivery, and may need to conduct research to understand the historical context and identify key moments to develop as part of the experience.
Visitor Journey Design: You will map out the end-to-end visitor journey across indoor and outdoor spaces, identifying key engagement points and emotional arcs to guide the narrative development for FM by Night. This includes coordinating with the FM daytime operations to ensure a smooth transition to the night experience and working with the appointed contractors to integrate the light and sound and site elements into a cohesive experience ahead of FM’s opening in 2028.
Outdoor Programming and Activations: In tandem with FM by Night, you will be part of a team that will plan and execute night activations – including supporting marketing efforts and partnerships with external collaborators – to drive visitorship and build community around FM by Night over a longer-term period.
