Setting: Not 100% Onsite
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Summary:
The People Concern is funded through the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (LAC DMH) and LA Care to deliver Mental Health and Enhanced Care Management (ECM) services. These programs provide mental health treatment, case management, and care coordination to individuals experiencing homelessness, transitioning into permanent supportive housing, or residing in permanent housing.
In collaboration with the Clinical Quality Assurance Leadership team, the Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for ensuring that the work submitted by client facing staff is consistent with The People Concern’s philosophies and meets the current standards for quality of care, and other requirements as defined by Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health and LA Care contracts for Enhanced Care Management.
The ideal candidate is technically savvy, detail-oriented, able to work independently, collaborative with team members and staff, demonstrates initiative and leadership in designing new protocols and policies, and serves as a data champion and support to staff at all levels throughout the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Enter data into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and funder systems in accordance with The People Concern and funder policies and procedures.
Create and maintain quality control activities (tracking document submissions, interpreting statistical information, generating reports, etc.) to ensure compliance with funder expectations.
Ensure compliance with LAC Department of Mental Health and LA Care Enhanced Care Management standards by verifying all documentation accuracy within client charts.
Completion of all documentation audits/data review/other in accordance with The People Concern, Department of Mental Health and LA Care ECM policies and procedures including but not limited to: Assessment/Intake/Annual/Discharge/Other packets, Quality Assurance Audits, etc.
Using the audit tool, do regular quality checks on charts per department procedures, including monthly quality assurance reviews and ensure all corrections are done in a timely manner to enhance quality improvement in mental health and health and wellness programs.
Communicate audit findings, Department of Mental Health/ LA Care ECM compliance requirements and upcoming changes with program staff.
Generate reports, perform data analysis and follow up on corrective action with program(s).
Assist in administrating the EHR, Exym.
Obtain and/or check Medi-Cal eligibility verification when needed.
Support data collection for the agency.
Meet established timeline standards.
Adhere to The People Concern personnel policies.
Attend and participate in agency and department trainings and meetings.
Collaborate and consult effectively with all levels of staff in Clinical Quality Assurance, Finance, Health and Wellness, Mental Health and any other staff/programs to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
Answer daily questions from all staff regarding Electronic Health Record (Exym), workflow questions, etc.
Provide support in the preparation for, and completion of any state or regulatory audit or site visit.
Other duties not specified in the position description as requested by the Quality Assurance Manager or Director of Clinical Quality Assurance.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED or Equivalent
Knowledge of documentation requirements for respective funding sources, specifically Medi-Cal, Enhanced Care Management, LAC DMH preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills- written, verbal, non-verbal, with a team building and supportive approach.
Time management skills as it relates to prioritization, delegation, overseeing multiple competing projects and the ability to effectively manage one’s own time.
Proactive and results driven self-starter with the ability to stay ahead of the curve and thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
Excellent data management skills.
Possess attention to detail, ability to be thorough and accurate.
Must possess a valid California Driver’s license and maintain an insurable driving record.
Able to work on-site in programs utilizing a high-tolerance, harm reduction service model and to engage effectively with clients experiencing multiple and complex barriers to care.

Experience with working in a community mental health setting.
Work Environment:
Field (may need to travel to other agency sites/offices) and indoor office environment
Regularly required to sit, stand, bend; occasionally lift or carry up to 35 lbs.
On occasion walk or drive to different local sites.
Will necessitate working in busy and loud environments.
Will be exposed to elements like cold, heat, dust, noise and odor.
May need to bend, stoop, twist, and sit throughout the day.
