Position Summary
The Director of Student Assessment leads the district's comprehensive assessment strategy to support high levels of student learning, instructional effectiveness, and organizational accountability. This position serves as the District Test Coordinator and oversees the planning, coordination, administration, compliance, reporting, and continuous improvement of district and state assessment systems, including formative and summative assessments.
The Director supervises Student Assessment Coordinator(s) and works collaboratively with schools and district departments to ensure the effective implementation, administration, analysis, and use of assessment data. This role supports the district's internal assessment strategy, including Common Formative Assessments (CFAs), NWEA MAP Growth, and state-required assessments, while ensuring state/federal accountability requirements.
As a member of the Planning, Research, and Evaluation Department, the Director collaborates closely with Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Learning (CIPL), English Language Services, Office of Exceptional Student Services, school leadership teams, and other district departments to promote a coherent, responsive, and student-centered assessment system across the district.
Essential Duties
Great Learning
- Serve as the District Test Coordinator and ensure compliance with all Oklahoma School Testing Program (OSTP) requirements, state regulations, timelines, and testing protocols.
- Oversee the administration of state-mandated assessments, Common Formative Assessments (CFAs), and NWEA MAP Growth assessments, ensuring accurate administration, data integrity, and reporting.
- Support the administration, reporting, and compliance requirements for additional district and state assessment programs, including WIDA and ACT assessments.
- Support schools and district leaders in the effective use of assessment data to inform instruction and improvement efforts.
- Analyze and distribute assessment results and reports to schools, departments, and district leaders in a timely and actionable manner.
- Coordinate district assessment calendars, testing schedules, proficiency testing, and Gifted Identification testing.
- Collaborate with district departments to ensure accurate student data, accommodations, and compliance related to assessment programs.

- Supervise, support, and develop Student Assessment Coordinator(s) and other assigned personnel.
- Provide training, guidance, and technical assistance to school leaders, building test coordinators, and district staff regarding assessment procedures and systems.
- Maintain effective communication and collaborative relationships with schools, district departments, testing vendors, and state agencies.
- Serve as a liaison between the district, testing companies, and the Oklahoma State Department of Education regarding assessment administration, accountability, and reporting.
- Participate in district committees, collaborative teams, and strategic planning efforts related to assessment and accountability.

- Oversee the management, validation, security, and reporting of assessment-related student data and demographic information.
- Manage assessment logistics, scoring, reporting systems, and operational processes to ensure efficient and accurate testing administration.
- Oversee required state reporting processes within Oklahoma State Department of Education systems, including Precode, Data Verification, and Demographic Overlay.
- Coordinate assessment timelines and workflows across schools, departments, and external partners.
- Support the maintenance of reporting tools, dashboards, and data systems that strengthen organizational decision-making.
- Maintain knowledge of current assessment legislation, accountability requirements, and best practices in educational assessment.

Job Specifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities):
- Masters in experimental psychology, educational leadership, curriculum and instruction, educational testing, or a closely related field. (School leadership experience preferred)
- Experience in the administration of large-scale testing programs. (Building Test Coordinator experience preferred)
- Working knowledge of the Oklahoma School Testing Program, including recent legislation, regulations, and guidelines.
- Knowledge of experimental and quasi-experimental research designs.
- Proficiency in data analysis, data visualizations, and corresponding software.
- An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered in appropriate circumstances.
Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities):
- An understanding of the development and proper applications of Criterion-Referenced and Benchmark Tests.
- Technical writing skills and manipulation and maintenance skills for large scale databases.
- Skills in the use of software packages for analysis and reporting.
*Relevant experience may be substituted for formal education at a 2:1 ratio. Therefore for every 1 year of college lacking, 2 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted.
Physical/Mental Requirements:
- Must have adequate manual dexterity to write legibly and perform required duties on the computer.
- Must have adequate visual acuity to read, interpret and transcribe written material and other required duties.
- Requires normal range of hearing and clear speaking abilities to interact appropriately with others in person and on the telephone.
- Requires some stooping, bending, stretching and occasional lifting not to exceed 25 pounds.
- Sitting for prolonged periods of time.
- May periodically require work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, sometimes stressful conditions in order to meet business needs and strict deadlines.
Work Environment:
- Office duties will be performed in a well-lighted, climate controlled environment.
