Job Purpose

The HR Advisor Principal is responsible for leading and delivering the full spectrum of human resources strategies and operations for our Donaldson Korea organization with about 40 employees.

This role acts as a trusted business partner to local leadership and APAC HR, balancing strategic advisory and operational execution to ensure effective talent management, strong employee engagement, and compliance with Korean labor regulations.

The role has a high impact on business performance by shaping workforce capability, organizational effectiveness, and culture in alignment with Donaldson’s regional and global priorities.

Key Accountabilities

Business Partnership & Strategic HR

  • Act as a trusted advisor to country leadership, aligning HR strategies with business goals
  • Provide insights on organization design, workforce planning, and capability development
  • Diagnose people and organizational issues and recommend practical, business-oriented solutions
  • Support leadership in change management and organizational transformation initiative

End-to-End HR Operations

  • Independently manage all HR processes, including recruitment and onboarding, performance management and talent reviews, Compensation and benefits administration as well as payroll coordination and HR administration
  • Ensure efficient, compliant, and consistent HR operations aligned with company standards

Employee Relations & Labor Compliance

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all employee relations matters
  • Provide coaching to managers and employees on workplace issues and conflict resolution
  • Ensure full compliance with Korean labor laws and regulations
  • Manage disciplinary actions, investigations, and liaise with legal counsel when required

Talent Management & Development

  • Drive talent planning, succession planning, and leadership development processes
  • Coach managers on performance management, feedback, and employee development
  • Implement learning initiatives aligned with business needs and regional priorities

 HR Policies, Programs & Governance

  • Develop, implement, and maintain local HR policies and practices aligned with global frameworks
  • Ensure adoption of corporate HR programs while tailoring local needs
  • Maintain strong governance across HR processes, documentation, and audits

APAC & Global Collaboration

  • Actively participate as a member of the APAC HR Leadership Team
  • Contribute to regional HR initiatives and projects
  • Collaborate with COEs and global stakeholders to deliver integrated HR solutions

Budget & Vendor Management

  • Own and manage HR and GA-related budgets (e.g., benefits, training, office-related HR services)
  • Manage relationships with external vendors (payroll, benefits, training providers, legal advisors)

Key Qualifications & Requirements 

Education Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; HR, Business, or related field preferred

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong business acumen and ability to translate business needs into HR actions
  • Ability to operate independently and manage competing priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills across all levels
  • Strong problem-solving and judgment capability
  • Effective communication skills in Korean and English (verbal and written)
  • High level of resilience, adaptability, and ownership

Experience

  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience, including broad generalist responsibilities
  • Experience as a standalone HR or country HR lead strongly preferred
  • Solid knowledge of Korean labor law and employment practices
  • Experience working in multinational companies and matrix organizations
  • Proven track record in both strategic HR partnering and hands-on execution

Others (% of travel, language, etc.):

  • Occasional domestic and international travel may be required
