Job Summary
This is the highest level of supervision and may on occasion have some managerial responsibilities however, the primary duty remains to supervise Non-Exempt and/or Exempt positions in a medium or large operational unit. There may be several functional areas that are complex and have a substantial impact on overall operations. This level supervises employees in complex administrative, journey trade, highly complex technical and/or professional employees that provide services or products to persons inside or outside the organization.

Overview
The Supervisor-Process Control oversees, supervises, leads, and monitors all process control maintenance, configuration, evaluation, analysis, and related operations. Supervises staff and oversees the installation, configuration, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting and repairs of process instruments, equipment, and control systems.
Essential Functions
1 Provides leadership, expertise, and direction; prioritizes tasks, schedules and assigns corrective maintenance work orders or pre-scheduled preventive maintenance, and ensures that Technicians are completing work on schedule, understand scope, and have clear performance expectations.
2 Hires, trains, and delivers performance evaluation and enforces discipline; verifies and approves time, manages service contracts, equipment, and technology related to Plant Instrumentation and Controls, and performs other supervisory tasks for department personnel.
3 Participates in the development and implementation of long range plans, programs, and schedules; determines goals and objectives needing emphasis; directs and coordinates work through leaders or team chiefs; and provides coaching or technical direction as needed.
4 Evaluates, enhances, and develops preventative maintenance activities for electronic process instruments and control systems; ensures proper documentation of time, parts used, cost of labor on completed Preventive or Corrective maintenance work orders; participates in discussions and decisions during construction meetings and represents SCADA or Electronic viewpoints during design meetings and reviews.
5 Reviews, evaluates, and translates technical drawings and specifications and writes process specifications; ensures work is conducted safely and in accordance with specified OEM manuals and plant rules and procedures.
6 Plans, controls, and coordinates maintenance activities with contractors, vendors, and other trades within the plant or other city departments to ensure efficient work; participates in and conducts various staff and out-of-service meetings where maintenance management is planned to ensure equipment availability, reliability, and capacity in support of overall plant management objective.
7 Provides on sight inspection, evaluation, and troubleshooting for equipment in use; responds to malfunctions, provides support for techs, and assesses processes and instrument functionality.
8 Hears and resolves serious complaints or simple grievances from employees; refers serious grievances to higher level managers; effects disciplinary actions or recommends serious disciplinary actions to managers.
9 Finds and implements methods to improve production or effectiveness; oversees the inspection of pump stations, levee pumps, and all other process systems.
10 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
1 Knowledge of Water and Wastewater equipment and processes, SCADA, security, and other activities.
2 Knowledge of safety rules and precautions.
3 Knowledge of electronics and instrumentation.
4 Ability to troubleshoot equipment and implement solutions.
5 Ability to plan, assign, train, direct, and evaluate administrative, trade/technical, or professional employees.
6 Ability to read various complex schematic diagrams and blueprints.
7 Ability to use and instruct in various types of hand tools, power tools, precision testing and/or troubleshooting equipment.
8 Ability to understand technical terminology.
9 Ability to maintain record keeping or work log system.
10 Communicating effectively verbally and in writing
11 Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED.
EXPERIENCE:
Six (6) years of experience utilizing/maintaining Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and/or process control equipment.
AND
Two (2) years lead work/supervisory responsibilities. (This experience may be included in the required experience listed above.)
EQUIVALENCIES:
An associate degree in any field plus four (4) years of the required experience including two (2) years of lead work/supervisory responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements.
A bachelor's degree in a non-specified field plus four (4) years of the required experience including (2) years of lead work/supervisory responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements.
A bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, electrical or electronic technology field plus two (2) years of the required experience including two (2) years of lead work/supervisory responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements.
LICENSE:
Valid driver's license with good driving record.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Some positions require the ability to lift objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.
Some positions require availability for twenty-four (24) hour emergency call-out.
Salary Range
The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
