Role Summary:
We are recruiting an Associate to join the Business Management team within the Private Equity (PE) department that is based in Toronto. The role will support the PE department’s business management priorities, with a focus on operational effectiveness, reporting, financial activities, process improvement, and cross-functional coordination. This individual will work closely with stakeholders across PE and the broader Fund to support key initiatives, prepare management reporting and analysis, track departmental deliverables, and help identify opportunities to improve workflows, tools, and processes. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to balance recurring responsibilities with ad-hoc, time-sensitive projects aligned with the department’s evolving priorities. The successful candidate will be a self-starter and collaborative team player who can manage multiple initiatives, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and contribute to high-quality execution across business planning, reporting, portfolio-related activities, operational deliverables, and special projects. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, analytical and problem-solving skills, and an interest in investing, financial data, and decision-making will be important for success in the role. Experience with data tools such as Python or SQL is considered an asset, but the emphasis of the role is on business management, operational execution, and stakeholder support.
The Private Equity department is responsible for all of CPPIB’s private equity investments globally, excluding real assets. By investing in funds, secondaries, and directly in private equity, we seek opportunities to build a global, diversified portfolio that will outperform comparable passive public alternatives over the long term. The Private Equity Business Management group leads business management activities that support the operations of the investment department in an efficient and effective manner.
