Newmont Tanami is on Aboriginal freehold land 540km northwest of Alice Springs. It is a long-life, low-cost, world-class asset in a core Newmont region. The Tanami Expansion 2 project, aims to extend the mine life beyond 2040, investing in a hoisting shaft which will increase the production of the underground mine from 2.6 Mtpa to 3.2 Mtpa. Both the successful exploration within the underground operation and implementation of the first Tanami Expansion has laid the foundation to further develop the operation to remain a major contributor to the Newmont portfolio. A fully equipped camp is located 40km from the site offering leisure facilities for those flying in from Perth, Brisbane, Alice Springs or Darwin.

Your Impact
Reporting to the Director, Digital, you will play a critical leadership role in driving the design, deployment, maintenance, and optimization of digital infrastructure across Newmont Tanami. You will lead digital operations across technology systems to ensure high availability, performance, security, and reliability, enabling safe, reliable, and high-performing operations. Your work will directly support business continuity, operational efficiency, and future growth by aligning technology systems to Newmont’s strategic objectives. As a trusted advisor to site leaders, you will translate operational needs into scalable digital solutions while championing continuous improvement, cybersecurity, and innovation, and leading a high-performing technical team in a complex mining environment.
As part of our team, you will:
- Ensure high availability, performance, and security of digital systems across site operations
- Foster collaboration, shared ownership, and strong relationships across site and corporate stakeholders
- Lead and manage site digital infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi and communication systems
- Oversee preventative maintenance programs to maximise system reliability and minimise downtime
- Plan and deliver infrastructure upgrades, expansions and technology improvements
- Collaborate with regional and global IT teams to align digital initiatives with business goals
- Manage vendor and contractor relationships to ensure service delivery and performance standards
- Support integration of emerging technologies into operational environments
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high performing technical team, fostering a culture of safety, inclusion, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards, policies and industry requirements
- Manage and oversee the site digital infrastructure budget to support critical operational priorities
Prerequisites for your success in this role
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related discipline
- Significant experience in IT infrastructure, networking and digital operations
- Strong technical knowledge of LAN, WAN, microwave and communication systems
- Experience managing mining technology systems and operational technology environments
- Knowledge of mining technologies such as fleet management, fatigue monitoring and collision avoidance systems
- Proven leadership experience managing technical teams and contractors
- Strong vendor management and stakeholder engagement capabilities
- Experience in infrastructure planning, project delivery and budget management
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and digital risk management
- Advanced computer literacy across Microsoft Office and digital systems
