Job Description
The QC Tech 1 performs routine product sampling, basic lab testing, and documenting quality data under supervision.
- Performs all necessary quality testing for in-process and composites as required by SKU.
- Follows work instructions regarding testing, reporting, non-conforming product, etc.
- Enters data and test results into IFS daily and into excel spreadsheets as needed.
- Communicates regularly with mill operator, shift supervisor, production manager and quality manager on any changes to test results, in-process testing, etc.
- Calibration of all QC lab equipment.
- Conduct product sampling and testing.
- Record and report results accurately.
- Follow safety and environmental guidelines.
- Maintain lab equipment and cleanliness.
- Assist with data entry and quality documentation.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong computer and basic software skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to follow complex instructions and procedures.
- Basic root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule when needed.
- High commitment to safety and quality standards.
- Experience with web-based applications.
- Experience in manufacturing or mining environments.
- Quality Control experience.
- Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) knowledge.
- Forklift experience.
- Warehouse experience.
- Physical / Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders and work on elevated platforms.
- Ability to use hand tools such as shovels, hammers, and wrenches.
