Job Title: Coordinator of Student Services- Health Services
Pay Schedule: Administrator & Supervisor (APSASCCO), Level 1, Tier 2
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports to: Supervisor of Student Services- Health Services
JOB SUMMARY
The Coordinator of Student Services- Health Services has primary responsibility for health services program development and implementation, staff development, community engagement, and consultative services under the direction of the Supervisor of Student Services- Health Services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provides direction and supervision for health services staff
- Assists with the management of day-to-day operations of health services in schools
- Plans and delivers professional learning for staff and community members including Naloxone, Stop the Bleed, Youth Mental Health First Aid, and other community health and emergency management trainings
- Establishes and maintains favorable relationships with the Carroll County Health Department and other local community agencies and organizations, diverse groups, and individuals to foster understanding and support for program objectives
- Coordinates AED Program and corresponding CPR training for staff
- Assists in the revision of the Health Services Manual and other documents, as assigned
- Seeks out health service related grant opportunities to maximize available resources
- Interprets local school board policies and administrative regulations and collaborates with administrative staff to arrive at appropriate outcomes for students
- Implements administrative procedures consistent with federal law, state school law, and State Board of Education and local school board policy and other regulations that impact delivery of services
- Assists with training and orientation of newly hired school nurses and nurse substitutes
- Performs delegated management duties related to fiscal operations, inventories, grants, data collection/analysis, and keeps records within established guidelines
- Facilitates the development of goals and objectives, which reflect solutions to student and system needs
- Prepares data for annual reports as required by local, state, and federal regulations
- Chairs and serves on committees as assigned
- Completes other duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, Master's degree preferred, and two (2) years of nursing experience in school health
- Current Maryland license (RN)
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification

- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with children, parents, staff, community members and other professionals
- Ability to work with persons from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to provide leadership and stability to field staff for program continuity
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Ability to lead adult groups; provide training and technical assistance to administrative and clerical staff
- Ability to monitor, analyze and evaluate program systems and procedures, making and coordinating appropriate changes
- Knowledge of software applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to write clearly, concisely, and descriptively
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Ability to work independently, work a flexible schedule and travel throughout Carroll County using personal vehicle
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sedentary Work: Exerting minimal but not constant physical effort to perform sedentary work, typically involving some combination of balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, walking and may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (5 to 10 pounds), visual perception and discrimination, the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds, perceive and discriminate color, perceive odors, and require oral communications. There may be occasions where the coordinator needs to fulfill the duties of a school nurse.

Employees in this position work in an environment where the employee must deal with crisis situations that require major decisions involving people, resources, and property.
