Iteris is seeking a Traffic Operations Center (TOC) Operator to monitor assigned roadways to detect, verify, and manage traffic impacts (e.g., congestion, crashes, roadwork). TOC Operators are designated as essential personnel and must be able to work in all conditions (e.g., severe weather, pandemic). The position requires a full commitment to the team and to the important mission of providing a safe, efficient, and reliable transportation system.
What you will be doing:
Work as a member of a team within an operations control room environment
Use CCTV to scan roadways and monitor traffic conditions
Monitor data feeds to obtain up-to-date traffic-related information
Initiate and manage response plans to support traffic incidents
Provide traveler information to the public
Dispatch field responders to traffic-related incidents
Communicate and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders
Use computer systems for incident reporting and to control field technology (e.g., traffic cameras, electronic message signs)
Use a telephone and two-way radios to dispatch resources and communicate with responders and agencies for coordinated traffic incident Management
What you need to be successful in this role:
High school graduation (or equivalent)
Proficient computer use
Ability to gain acceptable skills in Windows-based applications within allotted time
Ability to successfully complete initial training under the supervision of the Supervisor and TOC Manager
Sustained performance as additional knowledge and skills are acquired through “on-the-job” training
Ability to coordinate real-time activities and priorities
Effective communication in English (written and oral)
Scheduling flexibility and dependability (TOC operations are 24x7 and all staff are Essential Personnel)
Positive attitude with strong interpersonal skill
Excellent attention to detail
Punctual and reliable schedule
