
Quality Assurance Manager
Job Description
Seeking a leader for our quality systems that is detail-oriented, able to think critically in order to work through and partner with teams to solve problems and have experience in automotive industry. This person must be strongly technical and possess the ability to analyze data in order to develop improvement strategies.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality of products and processes throughout the manufacturing cycle by developing and managing quality systems; ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Others as assigned.
- Manage and mentor quality team on standards, procedures, and best practices to achieve departmental goals.
- Lead team to successful PPAP new product launches.
- Oversee APQP schedule, including quality project milestones.
- Lead and implement effective use and maintenance of core tools (PFMEA, Control Plan, MSA, PPAP, SOPs etc.)
- Ensure control plans and associated documents are implemented effectively and maintained through the lifecycle of the project.
- Lead development of and maintain the Quality Management Systems in accordance with ISO9001/ IATF1649 standards.
- Act as Management Representative for internal and external audits related to quality management systems.
- Communicate with customers regarding quality concerns, ensure effective resolution of issues and maintain strong relationships.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement; lead initiatives to enhance quality and efficiency.
- Maintain calibration program to ensure that all measurement and test equipment is kept according to industry standards.
- Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; coaching; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Schedule: This position will primarily work eight or more hours per day, five days per week based on business needs and will primarily be day-time hours but may occasionally work or travel nights and weekends for events and special projects.
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in quality management within the automotive manufacturing industry.
- In-Depth knowledge of quality management systems and methodologies (ISO/IATF/ APQP/ SPC, etc.)
- Strong understanding of technical drawings, including GD&T and metrology techniques.
- Strong 8D discipline and problem-solving methodology.
- Firsthand experience dealing with Automotive customers
- Able to act as Lead Auditor for IATF16949 & ISO9001 standards and be able to train others as Auditors
Preferred:
- Familiar with ASTM industry standards.
- Familiar with Heat-treating processes and validation methods.
- Familiar with Surface treating processes and validation methods.
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma
- Bachelor’s degree Preferred
- Six Sigma Green Belt Preferred
Other Requirements
- Ability to travel as needed. Must possess valid driver’s license (insurable with good driving record).
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally. Must possess driver’s license and be insurable with good driving record.
- If remote, must have access to reliable internet and ability to travel as needed
- Standard work hours with occasional evening/weekend availability as assigned

Skills & Competencies That Enable You to Succeed
- Highly proficient in Office software: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project and Outlook
- Hands-on experience with ERP or MRP. Global Shop Solutions is preferred.
- Proficiency in quality management software and tools.
- Working with statistical knowledge for trend analysis using Mini-Tab or other statistical software.
- Understanding of Six-Sigma terminology and methods
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines. Prioritizes appropriately.
- Ability to collaborate with coworkers, customers and suppliers. Build rapport and develop alliances; adjusts communication style to meet the needs at various levels within organization.
- Understands when to be flexible and work outside the system in a manner that promotes business growth while limiting confusion and risk.
- Provides clear direction and sufficient resources while removing or reducing obstacles to team success.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Ability to develop a strong understanding of production processes and capabilities, how data is captured and used internally to make decisions.
- Reliable and diligent with the ability to work efficiently while maintaining high standards in quality, and ability to learn new software tools.
