Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems sector is looking for a Senior Director of Sentinel System Test- Director Programs 2 in our SDS Division headquarters in Roy, Utah. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

What You Will Get To Do:

Lead the System Test Team for the Sentinel program.

The Sentinel strategic missile program is one of the largest and most complex system integration projects in history, with hundreds of missiles, hundreds of operating facilities, millions of lines of code, thousands of support equipment and training devices, and hundreds of technical training programs to enable industry and USAF to operate and maintain the system without fail in the most challenging conditions. The System Test Director will provide the experience and vision to drive safe and effective system-level Developmental Test and Evaluation to the Sentinel Weapon System. This leader is responsible for representing the Northrop Grumman Sentinel program with the USAF customer on joint test activities, developing test campaign strategy, as well as supporting flight and ground test of the weapon system at multiple test locations including the Roy Innovation Center (RIC), and Vandenberg Space Force Base, and other distributed test locations across the nation.

In this role you will:

  • Lead a large team of cross discipline directors, managers, and professionals at various locations responsible for test and evaluation of the nation’s next generation ICBM system.
  • Define and integrate test infrastructure requirements and ensure capable test facilities, resources, information technology, and processes, tools and systems critical to the Sentinel test campaign
  • Ensure the successful planning and execution of the Developmental Test & Evaluation program and support the Operational Test & Evaluation program as required.
  • Work closely with the SPO test directorate, Chief Developmental Tester l and Commander, 719th Test Squadron to collaborate as required on common test campaign resources and range assets.  Act as a single point of contact for all test domain and NG test community issues and concerns.
  • Provide oversight and management of the Integrated Test Facility (ITF) Weapon System SIL resources at the RIC, risk reduction test facilities including the Missile Processing Facility at the Strategic Missile Test & Production Complex in Promontory, UT, as well as the program’s VSFB Launch Facilities and Launch Control sites and Contractor Support Area facilities in CA.
  • Address change and plan test requirements and budgets for Advance Procurement, LRIP and FRP contracts, as well as potential FOT&E activity, as required.
  • Support day-to-day activities concomitant with a large and fast-paced ACAT 1D contractor test program.

The System Test Director is responsible and accountable for profit and loss (P&L) performance against the program plan, technical performance and credibility of the team, technical competencies developed within the team, and the technical quality of the weapon system products.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum 10 years of engineering experience or MS degree and 8 years of experience in test and evaluation.
  • Experience managing people
  • Experience with Profit & Loss accountability and earned value management
  • Experience in Agile development, processes, and tools
  • Active DoD Secret clearance, investigation must have been completed within last 5 years

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Test and Evaluation of ICBMs, missile programs, and/or BMC2 systems.
  • Top Secret clearance
  • People skills include effective listening, persuasion, mentoring, coaching, & an ability to attract and sponsor talent.
  • Experience interacting and communicating at the senior manager level with government counterparts and distinguished visitors.
  • Experience in hardware/software integration and HITL testing, and/or remote test site management and USG test range utilization.
  • Earned value management system, supplier management, and risk/issue/opportunity management system experience.
  • A record of leading large teams to successfully deliver first time quality on schedule affordably.
     

Primary Level Salary Range: $230,000.00 - $345,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
