Job Description

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Patient Car - Classifies observations and data within normal or out or range for individual patients that contribute to the assessment of patient health assessments or research protocol requirements. Deliver patient care with moderately complex patients/protocols. Participates in patient and family teaching. Precept and coaching others in care/protocol implementation. Contribute to evaluation of the patient's response to nursing interventions Incorporates family insights into patient response.

  • Planning - Actively contributes to the development, maintenance, or modification of the nursing plan of care/research protocol. Actively participates in patient care or research related conferences. Consistently integrates age specific and culturally inclusive concepts taking into consideration patient's chronological age and developmental functioning.

  • Collaboration - Collaborate with other members of the health care/research team regarding the patient plan of care/research protocol. Active member in point-of-care committees or projects identify and implement best practices.

  • Compliance, Safety, and Quality - Maintains organizational and regulatory requirements, and accreditations standards. Supports leadership in compliance efforts. Adheres to and contributes to the development of policies, procedures, and guidelines. Advocates for patient and staff safety. Identifies and reports safety concerns to leadership.

  • Inclusion - Ensures patient and family feel welcome, safe, valued, and respected. Incorporates culturally inclusive concepts into patient care. Engages the patient and family and recognizes the potential impact of culture on the patient and family experience. Protects patient and family rights. Encourages families to speak and represent themselves.

To function at the direction of, and in conjunction with the Registered Nurse (RN), or providers (physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, dentists, podiatrists, optometrists) in providing direct care to infant, child, adolescent and young adult patients and their families within the parameters of the Performance Standards for Practical Nurses

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 2+ years of LPN work experience

  • Demonstrated proficiency in subject matter and skills

  • Licensed Practical Nurse

  • Completion of a practical nursing certificate program

  • Preferred: Experience in either pediatric or research facility

  • Preferred: Graduate of an accredited LPN/LVN program
