Job Overview

Work independently in planning, organizing and overseeing the daily operation of the department, energy conservation, budget management, coordination with contractors regarding quotations, contracts for repair and maintenance, renovation works, license application and arrangement for all E&M works, continually maximizing guest satisfaction and optimizing our brand & hotel performance.

Responsibilities

  1. To be responsible for preparing budget for major overhauling and installation of machinery, repair and maintenance of physical plant; and controlling of all departmental expenses.
  2. Supervises and directs all team members in the department to carry out their tasks effectively incompliance with the hotel policies and procedures.
  3. Evaluates the effectiveness of the hotel maintenance works and make sure corrective actions are being taken, wherever needed.
  4. Overlooks the installation, repair and maintenance of operation equipment, such as calorifiers, chillers, pumps, ventilating systems, compressors, air-conditioners, refrigerators and other cooling or heating systems, etc.
  5. Establishes preventative maintenance program to assure guests and staff of a comfortable environment to stay or to work in.
  6. Analyzes and monitor the consumption of the gas, power and water for hotel utilities and recommend measures to save energy.
  7. Maintains a complete file of drawings specifications and equipment manuals for all equipment contained within the hotel premises.
  8. Goes through the Engineering Log Book daily and take the necessary action as required.
  9. Coordinates with all departments to attend fire drill exercises.
  10. To maintain the work force of the department by interviewing and selecting prospective team members.
  11. Ensures compliance with all Engineering policy, standard and procedures.
  12. Conducts departmental meetings and continually communicates a clear and consistent message regarding the Engineering goals to produce desired results.
  13. Acts as a bridge between Hotel Management to identify and address team members’ problems or concerns.
  14. Handles guest issues and complaints and report to Resident Manager on timely manner.
  15. Manages department controllable expenses to achieve or exceed budgeted goal.
  16. Ensures Hotel Policies are administered fairly and consistently, disciplinary procedure and documentation are completed accordingly.
  17. Conducts audit and controls on a regular basis. Communicates with Finances in case of irregularity. To coach and counsel team members whenever appropriate.
  18. Compiles an accurate data for the preparation of month end reports.
  19. Participates in different Hotel meetings as required for performance improvement and better inter-departmental communication.
  20. Trains and develops team members to the highest possible extent. Ensure that regular training is provided for technical, hospitality, communication, organization and management skills. 
  21. Conducts Human Resources Management for Engineering team.
  22. To work shift duty, over-time and emergency on-call if required.
  23. Report duty under typhoon signals hoisted condition or stay in hotel for standby if required.
  24. Any other relevant projects and duties as assigned by superior.
     

Requirements

  1. Higher Diploma/ Degree in Engineering or related disciplines;
  2. Certificate of Registration of Electrical Worker in Grade B;
  3. Competent Person Certificate in confined space;
  4. Certificated worker in confined space;
  5. Certificate of Construction Industry Safety Training;
  6. Certificate in Fire Fighting course preferred;
  7. At least 3 years experience in hotel industry;
  8. Sound technical and management skills in hotel engineering.
  9. Responsible and reliable, initiative, aggressive, leadership and interpersonal skills;
  10. Capability in employee coaching, team building & leadership;
  11. Vision and ability to set up long term goals and execute a course of actions to carry out strategies with the team;
  12. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines;
  13. Good command of written and spoken English and Cantonese.
  14. To work shift duty, over-time and emergency on-call if required;
  15. Report duty under typhoon signal hoisted condition or staying in hotel for standby if required.
