Ensures hospital grounds and off-campus facilities receive quality landscape maintenance. Coordinates and monitors the performance of work crews so that quality standards are met. Requires hands-on crew supervision as well as job-site performance of all maintenance duties.Job Description:
Education:
Required: High school diploma, GED or higher level degree
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture or related field
Licensure/Certification:
Required: Certified Arborist within one (1) year of hire
Experience:
Required: Five (5) years of progressive landscaping leadership experience
Preferred: Bilingual in English and Spanish
Reports To: Administrative Director-EVS
Supervises: Contract grounds maintenance crew members as assigned

1. Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
2. Hires, trains, counsels, coaches staff and completes annual employee performance reviews; creates and maintains job descriptions and develops policies and procedures as needed.
3. Develops and prioritizes the daily work list and assigns duties to crew members and contract crew, to include weekly/monthly work schedules.
4. Develops and maintains partnerships with local nurseries, tree and hedge trimming companies to assure high quality products, and timely deliveries.
5. Oversees quality control of Hospital Grounds and off-campus facilities.
6. Conducts before and inspections of all enhancement projects.
7. Identifies insect and disease issues and develops remediation plans.
8. Reports turf and tree stress and develops remediation plans.
9. Ensures staff completes irrigation tasks such as setting and checking clocks, reporting any damage and repairs to ensure preservation of landscapes.
10. Controls landscapes project expenditures by managing crew productivity and optimizing resource allocation.
11. Supervises contractor foreman and all land care responsibilities.
12. Prioritizes the daily work list and assigns duties to crew members and contract crew.
13. Ensures an aesthetically pleasing landscape for hospital staff and visitors by maintaining working knowledge of production planning and scheduling as it pertains to turf, seasonal plantings maintenance.
14. Oversees proper safety equipment and Personal Protective Equipment usage and practices.
15. Performs other duties as assigned.
