Role Overview

 

To conduct and oversee the effective execution of audits consistent with Internal Audit (IA) standards and ensure they are delivered within defined timescales and to work in conjunction with Executive Management and the Chief Internal Auditor, for CRS (Capital Risk Solutions) and within the wider group, to develop and maintain annual plans that are aligned to business strategies.
 
Also, to establish and maintain professional and creditable relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, and to demonstrate a professional approach to auditing using sound knowledge of governance, risk management and control.

Team Background

 

This role sits within our Internal Audit team and reports to our Senior Manager, Internal Audit.

What you will help us to achieve

 

In conjunction with IA leadership, responsible for the assessment of risk and development of the annual audit plan including information gathering process – assigning resources and managing delivery.

More specific responsibilities will include

 

Plan and lead the effective and efficient execution of delegated audits that will support the audit opinion in a manner that is consistent with IA’s standards, methodologies and processes.
 
Actively support Client Management in the resolution of control issues and seek to influence continuous improvement in their businesses.
 
Manage the Issue Tracking process – allocating resources, reviewing and signing off testing to ensure Issue Assurance is completed within IA timeframes.
 
Deliver high quality written reports on relevant governance, risk management and control issues including the preparation and presentation of regular reports for Executive Management and the relevant Board Audit / Management Committees .
 
Establish and maintain professional relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including the senior executives of business units across the delegated area, demonstrating political sensitivity and organisational awareness. Implement and “live” the IA strategy that supports the achievement of its Board approved charter and mission.

What you will need to be successful in the role

 

Holds a Management or Audit Lead position, or equivalent position in internal audit or leading audit practice, leading multi-disciplined teams of professional auditors in the execution of risk-based audit work.
 
Significant PQE experience operating in an audit role, with detailed knowledge and experience of internal audit standards and executing risk based internal audits to the highest standards.
 
A strong understanding of governance, risk management and control issues facing life assurance companies.
 
A relevant professional qualification (e.g., CMIIA, ACA, ACCA, CISA).
