Department: Operating Room

Shift: Day

Working Hours: 0600am-2:30pm

Summary:
A Registered Nurse is responsible for planning, organizing, and administering care within the
scope of his/her training and expertise, collaborating with other disciplines to ensure effective
and efficient patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes is met. This is
done in conjunction with the objectives and policies of the hospital and the Nurse Practice Act
of the state of Arkansas.

A Preoperative Nurse is a Registered Nurse who provides nursing care to patients being
admitted for surgery. The preoperative RN is responsible for admission and preoperative care
of the surgical patient. The nursing roles during this phase focus on assessing the patient and
developing a plan of care designed to meet the pre-anesthesia physical, psychological,
educational/health literacy, sociocultural and spiritual needs of the patient and family. The
preoperative RN also focuses on validation of existing information and completion of
preparation of the patient.

Other information:

A new RN graduate from an accredited nursing program or Registered Nurse in good standing, and licensed to practice in the state of Arkansas. BSN preferred. Applies basic knowledge and skills to meet standard of care. Is able to practice as a full partner of an interdisciplinary team. Healthcare CPR required, some areas may require ACLS, PALS and/or NALS - training is provided. Specialty units require and will provide specific specialty education.

This job will be authorized 0.01 hours bi-weekly.
