Job Title: Quality Assurance Supervisor Salary Range: CAD$63,393.00 – CAD$80,000.00 Working Type: On-Site The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day food safety and quality assurance activities within the Hilton Foods Canada production facility. This role leads a team of QA Technicians and works closely with Production, Sanitation, and Maintenance to ensure products are manufactured in compliance with regulatory, customer, and company food safety standards. The QA Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining the facility’s HACCP and Preventive Control programs, supporting regulatory compliance with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), and ensuring the plant operates within GFSI-certified standards such as BRCGS or SQF. The position supports continuous improvement initiatives, product quality performance, and food safety culture across the site. This role is at the heart of driving our business capability and building a fantastic environment for all our colleagues. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Supervise and coordinate QA Technicians across production shifts to ensure effective monitoring of food safety and quality standards. Provide leadership, coaching, and training to QA staff while supporting recruitment, onboarding, and performance management. Conduct on-floor verification of quality monitoring activities including CCP checks, process controls, sanitation verification, and GMP compliance. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements including the Safe Food for Canadians Regulations enforced by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and maintain the facility’s HACCP and Preventive Control Plan (PCP). Monitor key food safety programs such as sanitation, speciation, allergen control, foreign material prevention, environmental monitoring, and traceability. Manage product hold and release processes, investigate non-conformances, and lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality deviations and customer complaints. Oversee product testing programs and coordinate external laboratory testing as required. Support regulatory inspections, internal audits, and third-party audits including GFSI standards such as BRCGS. Assist with CFIA verification activities and preparation of documentation for regulatory inspections and CVS tasks. Ensure accurate completion and maintenance of quality records and documentation through daily review. Prepare quality performance reports, analyse trends, and communicate food safety or quality risks to plant leadership. Communicate quality issues and risks to the QA Manager and plant leadership. Conduct plant internal audits, program reviews and reassessment. Assists during scheduled traceability exercises and in investigating and resolving customer complaints. Assists in the maintenance of the Environmental Monitoring Program including testing, scheduling, tracking Provides daily communication to the QA Manager with regards to performance of QA staff, quality of product, production process and any food safety issues. Supports QA Specialists on the production floor and is a backup KEY EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Diploma or bachelor’s degree in food science, Food Safety, Microbiology, or a related discipline. Minimum 3–5 years of quality assurance experience in food manufacturing, preferably in meat or protein processing. Minimum 2-3 years of supervisory or team leadership experience. Strong understanding of Canadian regulatory requirements and CFIA compliance. Working knowledge of HACCP, Preventive Controls, and food safety management systems. Experience working within GFSI-certified facilities (BRCGS, SQF, or similar). Strong understanding of GMPs, sanitation programs, and food safety culture. Experience conducting investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action management. Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills. Excellent communication and organizational abilities. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management systems.
