The EHS Manager will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the safety, health, and environmental standards within the organization. Located at the Tsukuba Plant in Ibaraki Prefecture, the EHS Manager will design, implement, and continuously improve programs to ensure employee health and safety and compliance with all relevant regulatory agencies. Reporting to the plant manager, this role involves close collaboration with the EHS global team, Human Resource Managers, and other stakeholders to create organizational buy-in and drive positive change. The EHS Manager will work with various departments to mitigate risks, train employees, and initiate corrective measures, fostering a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.

This position reports to the plant manager and is part of the EHS and Plant Admin team located in Tsukuba plant and will be an on-site role.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop and implement EHS programs, policies, and training; conduct safety audits and inspections.
  • Lead incident investigations, risk assessments, and corrective actions; monitor EHS performance and ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with management to integrate EHS into operations and promote a culture of safety; manage hazardous materials, waste disposal, and emergency plans.
  • Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies; support local compliance efforts and stay updated on industry trends.
  • Develop and manage safety budgets; provide the EHS training to the employees, and site visitors if necessary.
  • Manage seals, fixed assets, equipment, consumables, loaned items, certification of ISOs or other standards, and administrative support for meetings, guest reception, real estate management, visitor handling, and internal communications.
  • Plan and execute company events, external relations, and facility and utility management.
     

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent knowledge.
  • Experience in audit process of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
  • 10+ years of experience in EHS management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, best practices, waste management, air emissions, industrial hygiene, process safety and safety/environmental laws,
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Japanese and English communication skills.
     

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Six Sigma black belt or other continuous improvement activity experience.
  • Experience working for a multinational company

  • グローバル戦略に基づき、工場のリーダーシップチームの一員として、安全・衛星および環境面の統括と戦略の推進を担う
  • 関連法令の動向を常に把握し、各種プログラム、ポリシー、トレーニングを策定・実施するとともに安全監査・検査を実施する。
  • 3名のチームメンバーを率い、工場全体の安全衛生環境を整えるとともに、組織の安全文化の醸成に取り組む
  • 規制当局・行政とのコミュニケーションやISO等の規格の認証、文書および備品管理、来客対応、など、工場全体の事業活動を円滑かつ効率的に運営するために総務業務全般を企画・実行・管理する
  • 社員エンゲージメント向上のための社内コミュニケーションや各種イベント等の企画・実行を担う

求めるスキル・知識・ご経験

  • 社員の安全を守ることに関する確固たる信念とポリシー
  • 安全またはEHS管理における10年以上の経験およびリーダー職の5年程度の経験。
  • ISO9001ISO 14001ISO 45001のいずれかのマネジメントシステムに関する知識と経験。
  • 製造工場での就業経験。
  • 日本語と英語(海外との電話会議がある程度理解できるレベル)のコミュニケーション能力。
