Wastewater Treatment Manager

The Opportunity

Veolia is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Manager to oversee the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of our wastewater and recycled water treatment plants across the Hunter region.

In this pivotal role, you'll manage a team of skilled operators and engineers, drive continuous improvement across multiple sites, and partner directly with Hunter Water to deliver essential services to our community. What you'll be responsible for

• Lead Operations: Manage the day to day operation of 19 wastewater and 2 recycled water treatment plants including biosolids reuse, ensuring strict adherence to environmental protection licences, operational parameters, and biosolids management guidelines
• Build High Performing Teams: Manage and develop supervisors, engineers, officers, and operators to deliver safe, reliable, and compliant plant operations
• Drive Safety Culture: Champion our "Always Safe" values, manage WHS initiatives, conduct safety inspections, and lead toolbox meetings to maintain our strong safety record
• Manage Environmental Compliance: Maintain Environmental Protection Licences, respond to incidents, and ensure all operations meet stringent environmental standards
• Deliver Financial Performance: Prepare and monitor budgets, approve expenditure proposals, and achieve cost targets without compromising quality
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work effectively with maintenance, projects, and sustainability teams to deliver shared Alliance objectives
• Represent the Alliance: Attend client meetings, manage stakeholder relationships, and promote the Alliance's reputation in the community

What you'll need to be successful

• Relevant engineering or environmental Tertiary Qualification
• Demonstrated experience managing the operations of wastewater and recycled water treatment plants
• Strong WHS and Environmental Systems knowledge 
• Budget and reporting experience with commercial acumen
