The Senior Product Owner is responsible leading a team to define and implement product design concepts, functionality, and user experience standards for software tools for flow cytometry. The ideal candidate has a desire to design software that delights users, a passion for creating real value for customers, and the ability to lead a team of supporting PO and UI/UX associates who will assist with design and implementation of the work in an agile scrum framework.
This position reports to the Head of Software - Flow Cytometry and will be fully remote.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Develop and maintain the product roadmap for flow cytometer acquisition and analysis software, balancing new features, technical debt, compliance validation, and performance optimization.
- Collaborate with the Product Manager, Systems Engineer, and lead software team Product Owner delegates to define, prioritize, and cascade designs, requirements, and wireframes that meet customer and business needs
- Participate in product team workshops around strategy, roadmap, and product requirements
- Verify readiness of features for release to production, public beta or private beta
- Run customer-facing betas, synthesize feedback, and collaborate with product management and development to prioritize select feedback for implementation
The essential requirements of the job include:
- 5+ years of hands-on laboratory experience with flow cytometry, from sample prep through to analysis and reporting
- 5+ years of UI/UX design work leveraging tools like Figma and Miro
- Comfortable engaging technically with software engineers, asking a lot of questions and learning engineering concepts
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and synthesize complex and diverse stakeholder inputs into a clear proposal
- A strong driver personality, who doesn't lose the forest for the trees, maintains context even in deep dives, has a hearty intuition but stays data-driven, has a clear vision for the critical path to deliver the minimum viable product
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements: if applicable for role
- Ability to travel – up to 15%, globally to visit customers, software teams, and conferences
- Must have or be eligible for a passport
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Experience using flow cytometry analysis software and clinical flow cytometry
- Experience writing design and requirements documentation for a software product
- Experience generating interactive mockups
