Fitness and Wellness Coordinator - Assistant Coach Opportunity

What You’ll Do
This position is housed in the Lifetime Sports Complex and reports to the Head Coach. This position will coordinate the operations of the Lifetime Sports Complex Fitness Center; along with developing and coordinating health and wellness programs in the Lifetime Sports Complex Fitness Center. The role includes managing and coaching student-athletes, assisting the Head Coach and the athletic department, and mentoring student-athletes to ensure success both on the court and in the classroom. Responsibilities include providing guidance in areas such as weightlifting, skill development, and situational awareness, as well as assisting the Head Coach with various tasks as needed.
Key responsibilities will include:
Assistant Coaching
Assisting the Head Coach in all aspects of program operations, including practice planning, game preparation, scouting, and film breakdown.
Identifying, recruiting, and retaining student-athletes capable of competing at a high level, including evaluating prospects and maintaining communication with parents, coaches, and recruits.
Monitoring and supporting the academic progress of student-athletes in collaboration with academic advisors; tracking coursework and intervening as needed.
Developing and implementing individualized training programs to enhance student-athlete performance.
Promoting the personal development, character, and self-awareness of student-athletes, including coordinating community service opportunities.
Assisting with team logistics, including travel arrangements, scheduling, and summer camp planning and execution.
Performing additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach.
Campus Recreation & Intramurals
Collaborating with the Athletics & Campus Recreation Manager to planning and offering employee and student wellness programs and group fitness offerings that promote healthy lifestyles and student engagement.
Maintaining facility and equipment, including overseeing preventative maintenance and ensuring cleanliness and organization of spaces when conducting intramural events and/or working in the Weight and Exercise Room.
Collaborating with campus partners to planning, implementing, and assessing recreation and intramural programs aligned to student requests and interests.
Planning and promoting campus recreation opportunities through presentations, orientations, and outreach activities.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a candidate who brings not only technical expertise but also a passion for education and student success. Our ideal candidate will have:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Higher Education Administration, Recreation, Management, College Student Personnel, or a related area, and two (2) years of experience; or a combination of education and/or experience.
Experience hosting and managing successful events and supervising staff are also required.
New hires must possess CPR/First Aid Certification or be able to obtain an instructor rating within the first six months of employment.
Progressive leadership and administrative experience within a college’s Student Affairs Department and Athletics is highly preferred.
