Class:  Classified
Dept: Maintenance Dept.
Title: Mechanic 
Reports to:  Director and Assistant Director of Maintenance
Qualifications:  High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) diploma, and education and/or experience in mechanical work that is directly related to the job.
Requirements:  

• Must be able to bend, push, pull, and lift at least 50 lbs.
• Must have a current driver's license with a clean driving record.
• A CDL is a plus, but not required
• Must be able to operate power tools and lawn equipment.

Job Goal:         

• Perform preventative maintenance on all WCPS vehicles
• Repair lawn equipment - riding mowers, tractors, push mowers, weed eaters,
• Blowers, etc.
• Order materials and keep inventory for preventative maintenance
• Maintain a clean work environment

Illustrative Examples Of Work:

• Troubleshooting lawn mowers and vehicle issues
• Replaces faulty parts
• Repair vehicles throughout the county

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Working knowledge of vehicle maintenance
• Ability to use power tools
• Ability to make repairs on lawn mowers
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions

Terms of Employment:  12- month work year/ at will employees/ FLSA Non-Exempt 
Starting Salary and/ or Grade:  Grade 61 
Evaluations:  Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board and local policy on evaluations of personnel.
