Position Summary:
The Summer Camp Entertainer / Cultural Workshop Instructor is responsible for providing engaging, educational, and culturally enriching workshop experiences for children participating in the Ukrainian Summer Camp 2026. This role focuses on sharing unique artistic, cultural, recreational, or creative skills that encourage self-expression, cultural appreciation, creativity, and community involvement among campers.
Position Description:
The Summer Camp Entertainer / Cultural Workshop Instructor will work under the Ukrainian Refugee School Impact Grant initiative and is responsible for planning and leading specialized workshops, performances, or interactive activities for children. Workshops may include arts and crafts, music, dance, theater, cultural traditions, storytelling, folk art, visual arts, fitness, or other creative activities that support children’s cultural awareness, confidence, and personal development.
The instructor will foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment where children can explore new talents, develop skills, and participate in meaningful cultural and recreational experiences.
Required Qualifications (must be met at time of hire):
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in arts, music, theater, education, recreation, or related field preferred
• Be 18 years old
• Demonstrated artistic, cultural, recreational, or performance-based skills relevant to workshop instruction
• Experience working with children in camp, educational, community, or recreational settings preferred
• Strong communication and presentation skills • Ability to work in a multicultural and multilingual environment
• Fluency in Ukrainian and functional English preferred
• Valid Ohio driver’s license and authorization to work
• Must successfully complete background check
General Expectations:
• Work cooperatively with camp staff, administrators, families, and community partners
• Maintain professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and confidentiality at all times
• Ensure safety and supervision of children during all activities and workshops
• Follow all USCRI policies, procedures, and child protection guidelines
• Participate in scheduled planning meetings and staff trainings as required
• Create an inclusive and encouraging environment for children of varying backgrounds and abilities
Essential Duties:
• Plan and conduct engaging workshops, demonstrations, or performances for campers
• Teach children new artistic, cultural, recreational, or creative skills through hands-on activities
• Promote appreciation of Ukrainian culture and multicultural exchange through interactive programming
• Encourage creativity, participation, teamwork, and self-expression among campers
• Adapt activities to meet the age, developmental level, and interests of participants
• Maintain safe organization and supervision during all workshop activities
• Collaborate with camp staff to coordinate schedules, materials, and special events
• Assist with camp-wide cultural celebrations, performances, or presentations as needed
Functions:
• Lead culturally enriching and skill-based activities for campers
• Foster positive relationships with children, families, and camp staff
• Promote creativity, confidence, and cultural appreciation among participants
• Support inclusive participation and respectful group interaction
• Encourage exploration of new interests, hobbies, and artistic talents
• Collaborate with camp staff to ensure smooth daily camp operations
