We are looking for a Cancer Registry Administrator to support the collection, management, and quality control of cancer data in compliance with state and federal standards. This position will be full-time, on a 6-12 month contract, and hybrid.
Only work authorizations that will not require sponsorship now or in the future will be considered.
What You’ll Do
File incoming cancer data reports from healthcare facilities (electronically store faxed, mailed information).
Coordinate with health systems (reporting healthcare facilities) to manage their profiles in the ISCR databases (SEER*DMS, WebPlus, and others).
Manage the ISCR databases, ensuring profile updates are correct and appropriate.
Update contact information for reporting facilities' cancer registrars and leaders.
Document, register, and file all incoming pathology and laboratory reports.
Contribute to the development and review of standard operating procedures for ISCR.
Ensure all data privacy practices are compliant with state and federal regulations.
Coordinate cancer data collection from healthcare organizations and review submissions to categorize and process incoming reports (pathology, laboratory, death, etc.).
Assist colleagues in transitioning non-hospital paper reporting facilities to electronic reporting tools such as WebPlus or HL7-compliant systems.
Perform data quality control activities in SEER*DMS software upon completion of on-the-job training.
Conduct cancer data abstracting in WebPlus software upon completion of on-the-job training.
Use professional judgment to interpret and apply State and Federal guidelines for Cancer Registry Death Clearance procedures.
Review mortality files and conduct Death Clearance follow-back activities in compliance with CDC and NAACCR standards.
Communicate with healthcare facilities regarding Death Clearance cases using secure tools and professional methods.
Provide information and data for administrative reports, audits, and queries to ensure compliance with national and state requirements.
Participate in CDC-initiated data collection and audit activities, such as the Program Evaluation Instrument (PEI) and Performance Measures.
Assist in program evaluation activities by participating in Registry Advisory Council meetings and collecting requested evaluation data.
Conduct data pulls for virtually pooled registry requests if assigned.
What You'll Need
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in health informatics, public health, or health information administration.
At least 1 year of work experience related to collecting and managing data in healthcare, preferably in cancer registry or cancer reporting.
Knowledge of local, state, and national requirements for quality assurance within cancer surveillance programs.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Enterprise tools (Word, Excel, Teams) and adaptability to learn new software systems.
Preferred:
Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) certification.
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification.
Physical Demands
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards.
Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor.
Must be able to communicate with customers/team members over the phone and in person.
Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

$30.00 per hourThe pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
