Bilingual Claims Counsel / Examiner, Specialty Insurance

  We are currently seeking a qualified individual for the following opportunity in our Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, or Halifax office:      BILINGUAL CLAIMS COUNSEL / EXAMINER, SPECIALTY INSURANCE     The Bilingual Claims Counsel/Examiner, reporting directly to the Vice President, Claims Specialty Insurance, will be responsible for management of claims within the Specialty Insurance and Casualty departments.     Responsibilities include:   Coverage evaluation. Drafting coverage letters and other documents (in both French and English). Setting claim reserves. Communicating with insureds, counsel, brokers, and claimants (in both French and English). Managing litigation and negotiating settlements. Authorizing payments as required. A passionate, participative, service-oriented attitude     Qualifications   LL.B. or LL.L. from a recognized university (preferred but not required). 5-7+ years of experience in private practice specializing in insurance law and/or experience in claims handling. Fluently bilingual in French and English. Property & Casualty experience is an asset. Membership in good standing with the Barreau du Québec- if applicable     Location:   Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, or Halifax office.   Compensation:  The expected salary in this position is within the range of $135,000 - $175,000   This salary range reflects the expected base compensation for the role across Canada. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and scope of responsibilities.
