Primarily responsible for assisting in the daily operations and maintenance of manufacturing processes for night vision systems. Including but not limited to: optimization of manufacturing processes, implementation of cost reduction opportunities (yield and productivity improvements, waste elimination), review/disposition of night vision systems and components, and training production employees to improve work processes and product quality, working to minimize or eliminate safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and production issues.
A successful candidate will have proficiency in the use of hand and machine tools, precision gauges, test instruments, and process equipment. Have an understanding of and the skills to effectively apply Six Sigma tools to benefit the organization and customers. Additionally, the candidate will be versed in Lean tools and their application to reduce waste. This is a hands-on engineering technician position. The individual can expect to spend >70% of their time engaging directly with the factory teams on the shop floor to be most effective. Candidate will perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Associate degree in an Engineering field (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, etc.) or equivalent related work experience
2+ years of technical experience in a manufacturing environment
Ability to obtain a US security clearance
Strong analytical abilities and troubleshooting techniques
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Capable of performing process engineering tasks proportionate to their experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is required
Must have the ability to work effectively within a team
Good interpersonal and organizational skills are required
Experience training others
Must be able to comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations, Company Policies, and Procedures
Preferred Skills:
Experience with review/inspection of mechanical assemblies, optics, and/or soldering
Experience writing MS Access queries
Proficiency with statistical analysis software: Minitab, JMP, SAS . . .
Six Sigma certification
Ability to support the organizational culture and build morale
Experience in the following areas is a plus… Night Vision Goggles, Thermal Imagery Equipment, Optics, Conformance Testing to Mil-Stds
Experience with various forms of deposition processes (e-beam evaporation, sputtering, and wet etching processes)
Experience with glass fiber draw or other glass forming operations
Experience with grinding and polishing operations
Experience with brazing operations
Experience with ultra-high vacuum equipment
