Position Summary
The primary function of an area manager will oversee multiple yard locations and will be responsible for day-to-day management, administration and reporting of multiple distribution center business activities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee inventory levels for multiple yards and ensure shrinkage and damaged inventory are controlled.
- Ensure monthly cycle counting and close out procedures are executed correctly at each yard location.
- Oversee the financial operations of volume-buy and selling, profit margins, and P&L statements.
- Ensure all delivery personnel adhere to OSHA and GMS policies while working in the warehouse and at the jobsite.
- Collaborate with the Safety Manager to ensure weekly and monthly GMS management safety reviews are met.
- Oversee cleanliness and maintenance of multiple warehouses and yards.
- Ensure all fleet maintenance and accidents have been reported.
- Oversee full-cycle delivery management at multiple yard locations.
- Resolve conflicts that escalate with customers.
- Ensure delivery of materials from other yards goes smoothly.
- Ensure daily activities of all team members are operating smoothly and resolve any issues.
- Collaborate across departments to drive optimal productivity and foster an inclusive environment.
- Ensure performance plans are set, maintained, and continuously improved.
- Generate creative solutions to improve processes.
- Maintain service level requirements throughout operations.
- Handle employee relations as needed.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of related work experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of distribution experience.

Physical Requirements
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Will frequently move about inside the office to access files, office machinery, etc.
- Must be able to operate basic office machinery.
- Must be able to communicate with team and management and exchange accurate information.
- Must be able to identify safety and maintenance concerns.
- Constantly working in office and warehouse environments.

- Must be able to problem solve and prioritize tasks.
- Must be able to manage stress depending on deadlines and ongoing projects.

- Must be able to analyze budgets and inventory accuracy.
- Must be able to quickly communicate solutions if problems occur.
