Description
In this position, you will receive ample on-the-job training that will be useful in many different maintenance fields! As a Rail Maintenance Assistant, you will help ensure our cars stay up to the required safety and operating standards. This behind-the-scenes position is a pivotal role in our daily operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist senior mechanics with the repair and maintenance of domed rail cars.
- Perform nightly checks and repairs per FRA regulations and compliance.
- Use software program(s) for tracking parts inventory and repairs.
- Routinely cleans and services HVAC-R equipment.
- Maintain workspaces and promote shop safety by cleaning work areas and removing hazardous materials such as oil, coolant, and other fluids.
- Test electrical circuits and other related components using electrical testing equipment.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on buildings and grounds.
- Safely operate scissor lifts, ATVs, and forklifts.
REQUIREMENTS
- One year of experience in positions involving maintenance.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be willing to be part of our random alcohol and drug testing program.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check.
- Minimum age of 18 years is required to reside in company housing, where available.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States. Holland America-Princess is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-2B status).
- Ability to organize and prioritize work, and maintain attention to time constraints, while working in a team or group environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and external influences.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while achieving daily goals.
- Ability to support and comply with company policies, procedures, and guidelines including support and comply with company health and safety standards.
- Ability to stand/walk/work on feet for a minimum of 8 hours per day.
