Position Title: Truck Equipment Technician
Location: Eplers Truck Equipment, Evansville, IN
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Truck Equipment Technician to join our team. This role involves installing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of truck equipment, including liftgates, service bodies, dump beds, plows, hoists, hydraulic systems, and other specialized accessories. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electrical skills, enjoys hands-on work, and takes pride in delivering high-quality craftsmanship.
Key Responsibilities:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Truck Equipment Technician to join our team. This role involves installing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of truck equipment, including liftgates, service bodies, dump beds, plows, hoists, hydraulic systems, and other specialized accessories. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electrical skills, enjoys hands-on work, and takes pride in delivering high-quality craftsmanship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair truck-mounted equipment (hydraulic systems, PTOs, cranes, liftgates, snowplows, flatbeds, dump bodies, etc.).
- Perform electrical wiring and hydraulic plumbing for various truck and trailer systems.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on truck equipment.
- Fabricate, weld, and modify truck bodies or components as needed.
- Maintain accurate work orders, service reports, and documentation.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
- Assist in training or mentoring less experienced technicians when needed.
Qualifications Required:
- Proven experience as a truck equipment technician, diesel mechanic, or similar mechanical role.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and welding/fabrication equipment.
- Valid driver’s license (CDL a plus).
Preferred:
- ASE or EVT certifications in truck equipment or hydraulics.
- Welding certification or proven fabrication experience.
- Knowledge of DOT and OSHA safety standards.

- Physically able to lift heavy equipment and work in various weather conditions.
