Description
We are seeking a Chartered Building Surveyor to join our Project Management and Professional Services team. You will act as a trusted advisor within the commercial property sector, leading the technical delivery of projects, providing expert client advice, and supporting the development of junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver a variety of Building Surveying services, including:
- Dilapidations – representing both landlords and tenants, including the assessment, preparation, and negotiation of claims.
- Technical Due Diligence – conducting surveys and preparing reports for acquisitions, disposals, and refinancing.
- Design & Contract Administration – managing refurbishment and fit-out projects from inception to completion.
- Project Management and Employer’s Agent duties across a wide range of commercial projects.
- Defect Analysis, Schedules of Condition, and PPM reporting.
- Reinstatement Cost Assessments and feasibility studies.
- Ensure technical accuracy, quality, and consistency across all project deliverables.
- Manage client relationships, ensuring delivery aligns with agreed timescales, budgets, and expectations.
- Mentor Graduate Building Surveyors, including providing APC support and technical review.
- Contribute to business development, networking, and client engagement to grow CHPK Group’s Building Surveying offering.
- Actively share knowledge and best practices, promoting technical excellence across the company.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of current legislation, regulations, and industry standards.
- Prepare and present reports, specifications, and cost estimates with professionalism and commercial awareness.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams — including Cost Consultancy, and M&E Services and Fire Engineering — to deliver integrated client solutions.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Strong technical, contractual, and regulatory knowledge, particularly within commercial Building Surveying and/or Project Management.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a client-focused approach.
- Commercially astute with a sound understanding of market trends and client priorities.
- Organised, proactive, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Team-oriented, with a commitment to collaboration across CHPK.
- Confident representing CHPK Group at client and industry events.
- Flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to travel to sites across London and occasionally nationwide.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Degree in Building Surveying or a related discipline.
- MRICS qualification (essential).
- Minimum of 1 years’ post-qualification experience within a consultancy environment.
- Proven experience delivering commercial building surveying services including dilapidations, TDD, and contract administration.
- Experience acting as Project Manager or Employer’s Agent.
- Strong working knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contract suites.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Deltek PIM is advantageous.
- Full UK driving licence.
