Today, we’re one global team united by bold thinking, relentless drive, and a passion to exceed expectations. If you’re ready to embrace change and make an impact in your career, let’s go.
Why This Role Matters
Global Performance & Simulation is focused on accelerating the tire development process through advanced knowledge, innovative technologies, and collaborative engineering practices. By integrating virtual development and risk-reduction tools, the team helps reduce physical tire builds and testing while improving development efficiency and product quality.
Within this organization, the Life Cycle Mechanics team works to advance technologies related to treadwear, durability, tire energy, and wet and snow contact mechanics. The team combines scientific expertise, continuous learning, and cross-functional collaboration to help shape the future of tire performance and virtual development.
As a Treadwear Performance Engineer, you will contribute to optimizing tire designs to meet treadwear performance targets across multiple product lines. This role combines analytical assessment, virtual simulations, experimental validation, and collaborative problem-solving to help reduce performance risk and support reliable, high-performing products in diverse operating conditions.
You will also contribute to advanced technology initiatives that strengthen treadwear prediction capabilities within the virtual development environment and support innovation across the product development process.
What You’ll Do
- Contribute to the development of next-generation tire performance technologies by expanding simulation-based, data-driven, and test-based capabilities
- Develop and refine predictive wear and performance models using FEA, wear simulations, statistical analysis, and modern data science methods
- Collaborate with laboratory and testing teams to correlate simulation results with road and lab test data, improving model accuracy and robustness
- Partner with tire design and product development teams to optimize tread patterns while balancing wear, noise, handling, and durability requirements
- Support tire and vehicle system evaluations through modeling, simulation, and testing to help ensure reliable and robust performance outcomes
- Work closely with OEMs, suppliers, and academic partners to advance virtual tire and vehicle development processes and improve efficiency and quality
- Share technical findings and recommendations clearly with cross-functional stakeholders to support informed decision-making and innovation initiatives
What You’ll Bring
- Master’s degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related engineering discipline
- 5 years of rofessional experience in tire wear, tire design, contact mechanics, frictional energy, or related automotive engineering fields
- Knowledge of tire mechanics, wear modeling, material characterization, and tire technology or manufacturing processes
- Experience with data analysis and statistical tools such as MATLAB, Python, SAS JMP, Tableau, or Power BI
- Familiarity with vehicle simulation tools such as VI-Grade, IPG CarMaker, or CarSim, as well as tire testing standards including ASTM or SAE
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage priorities in a collaborative environment
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across teams and share technical insights clearly with a variety of stakeholders
- A collaborative mindset, curiosity for innovation, and enthusiasm for continuous learning and improvement
