Job Title: Farm Manager
Location: Alltech Nicholasville Employment Type: Full-TimeReports To: Maintenace Manager
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated, hands-on Farm Manager to oversee and actively participate in the daily operations of a 200-acre corporate-owned property. This role requires a balance of physical farm work, team leadership, and direct communication with executives. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in the field alongside staff while also providing clear updates, insights, and recommendations to leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Farm Operations (Hands-On)
Actively work in the field managing day-to-day operations across 200 acres
Perform and assist with planting, maintenance, harvesting, and general land care
Operate and maintain farm equipment and machinery
Step in wherever needed to ensure smooth, efficient operations
Livestock Care
Directly assist with feeding, handling, and monitoring livestock health
Maintain clean, safe enclosures and ensure humane treatment practices
Coordinate veterinary care and maintain accurate health records
Landscaping & Groundskeeping
Lead and participate in maintaining extensive flower beds, landscaped areas, and green spaces
Perform planting, pruning, fertilization, and pest management
Ensure the property consistently meets high aesthetic and functional standards
Irrigation Management
Hands-on oversight of irrigation systems, including setup, monitoring, and repairs
Adjust watering schedules based on weather and seasonal needs
Troubleshoot issues quickly to prevent crop or landscape damage
Team Leadership
Supervise, train, and work alongside farm and grounds staff
Assign daily tasks and ensure accountability and productivity
Promote a strong work ethic and team-oriented environment
Executive Communication & Reporting
Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for corporate leadership
Provide regular updates on operations, challenges, and opportunities
Translate on-the-ground conditions into actionable insights for executives
Assist in planning, budgeting, and decision-making processes
Equipment & Resource Management
Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment in working condition
Monitor inventory and order supplies as needed
Ensure efficient use of resources and minimize waste
Qualifications
5+ years of hands-on farm, ranch, or large property management experience
Strong working knowledge of livestock care, irrigation systems, and landscaping
Proven ability to lead by example in a physically active role
Experience operating and maintaining agricultural equipment
Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with executives
Self-starter with excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
Working Conditions
Extensive outdoor work in varying weather conditions
Physically demanding role requiring lifting, bending, and equipment operation
Flexibility to work extended hours or weekends as needed
