PASSPORT HEALTH
Registered Nurse — Travel Medicine
This isn’t a traditional nursing role — and that’s exactly the point.

Passport Health is North America’s largest travel medicine and immunization provider, with 300+ clinics across the U.S. and Canada. We’re looking for experienced RNs who are energized by working independently, want to build deep specialty expertise, and are comfortable with a schedule that flexes with client demand. If you thrive in a team environment, need guaranteed hours, or are looking for a traditional clinical ladder - this role probably isn’t the right fit, and that’s okay. For the right nurse, it’s unlike anything else in the field.

What Makes This Role Different
You run your clinic. You own your patient experience.

In our clinics, you are the only clinical staff member in the building. No charge nurse down the hall, no colleague to check with, no team huddle at the start of the shift. You’re assessing, educating, administering, and documenting - all of it, on your own. You will have a network of clinical leadership and support accessible remotely, but the day-to-day decisions are yours to make. Nurses who don’t tend to find out quickly. Travel medicine is a specialty. You’ll develop deep expertise in vaccine-preventable diseases, international health risks, and pre-travel health planning — knowledge most nurses never get to build. Every client interaction is a true consultation, not a check-the-box encounter.

What a real day looks like: You arrive, set up the clinic, and work through a schedule of pre-booked travel health consultations - typically 4 to 10 appointments depending on the day and location. Each visit runs 30–60 minutes: you review the client’s itinerary, assess health risks, administer vaccines, and send them off prepared. Between appointments, you’re managing inventory, completing documentation, and handling any follow-up. On a slow day, you may see two or three clients. On a peak-season Friday, your schedule may be full. The work is satisfying and often genuinely interesting — but it is also quiet, self-directed, and requires you to stay engaged without external structure pushing you along.

What You’ll Do
  • Conduct in-depth travel health consultations and educate clients on destination-specific risks
  • Administer vaccines per standing orders and monitor for adverse reactions
  • Recommend and promote travel health products and medications as clinically appropriate
  • Own clinic setup, inventory, compliance, and documentation independently — no administrative support staff on site
  • Support onsite corporate wellness or vaccine clinic events as needed
  • Complete ongoing travel medicine training — we invest in keeping your clinical knowledge current
Current Opening Details
  • Location(s): Federal Way, WA
  • Compensation: $50.00/hr
  • Schedule: Part-time / 24 hours a week / Monday - Friday with Saturday rotation
Scheduling — The Honest Picture: Passport Health uses a census-based scheduling model. Here’s what that means in practice:
  • Hours are based on client demand, which varies by location and season
  • We create a schedule that offers 6–12 months of consistency, helping provide stability, while recognizing that hours are not guaranteed in some markets
  • To support schedule planning and consistency, we require availability within defined scheduling windows, which allows us to provide a clear, forward-looking view of your work schedule
  • We do our best to honor availability, and flexibility (preferred day/time coverage, weekends, or willingness to cover multiple locations) can increase your scheduled hours
  • Peak travel seasons (typically February–August) generally bring higher and more stable volume
We want you going in with realistic expectations. The nurses who thrive here are those who value the trade-off: less rigidity, more autonomy, and the ability to build a schedule that works for their life and for the business
needs, even if that means some week-to-week variability.

What You Need to Succeed
• Active RN license in good standing
• 1+ year of clinical nursing experience (travel medicine background a plus, not required)
• Genuinely comfortable being the only person in the clinic — not just “okay with it” but energized by it
• Strong patient communication and education skills
• Reliable access to a personal computer (training systems require desktop or laptop)
• Proficiency with Google Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Meet)
• Current First Aid/CPR certification
• Ability to lift and transport vaccine inventory as needed

Ready to apply?
If you’re an experienced RN who wants to work autonomously, build a specialty you’re proud of, and interact with patients in a meaningful way — we’d love to hear from you. If you want a team around you every day, a
predictable full-time schedule, or a clear clinical ladder to climb, this role likely isn’t the right match — and we’d rather you know that now than find out in week two.
