Job Description:

Help the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife fulfill its mission: To protect and enhance Oregon's fish and wildlife and their habitats for use and enjoyment by present and future generations.

We are hiring for one full-time, permanent position located in Salem, Oregon.

What you will do:

This position provides high‑quality customer service by responding to inquiries about fish and wildlife licenses, regulations, and agency services. The role supports license agents and customers through email, phone, and in‑person assistance, explains ODFW rules and statutory requirements, and troubleshoots issues with the Electronic License System (ELS). The position also monitors and reports system concerns to appropriate staff while supporting a variety of agency activities.

NOTE: Due to the nature of this position, regular and consistent attendance is essential for this role.

What we are looking for:

Minimum Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, all applicants must meet the following:

  • Two years of experience in customer service. One year of which must have included explanation of rules, regulations, and policies and responsibility for dealing with unique or unusual situations.

  • Skilled in explaining complex rules and regulations in clear, accessible terms

  • Dependable and committed to consistent attendance

  • Proficient in navigating multiple computer programs to locate and apply resources

  • Strong analytical skills to identify the core of customer questions and provide accurate, tailored responses

  • Effective active listening and communication abilities

  • Able to read maps and interpret property lines, deeds, contracts, and related documents

  • Familiarity with controlled hunt drawings and associated processes

  • The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying salary range. If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying, the salary range will reflect an additional 6.95%

  • The employee in this position will be represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and will be subject to all terms and conditions of the collective bargaining agreement. Pay and benefits on all job listings may change without notice.
