
Project Controller
Job Description
Project Planning & Scheduling
Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 or MS Project
Establish Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), milestones, and deliverables aligned with the Terms of Reference (TOR)
Monitor schedule performance and identify critical path impacts
Coordinate schedule updates with technical engineering team
Progress Measurement & Reporting
Measure physical and financial progress against the baseline plan
Prepare weekly and monthly reports, including dashboards and KPIs
Provide insights on schedule delays, cost overruns, and performance trends
Variation (Change Order) Management
Identify, track, and manage project variations and change orders
Evaluate cost and schedule impacts of variations
Prepare variation estimates, supporting documentation, and justifications
Coordinate approvals with stakeholders, clients, and contract administrators
Monitor implementation of approved variations and update project baselines
Contract & Terms of Reference (TOR) Management
Review and interpret contracts, TOR, and technical specifications
Ensure project execution aligns with contractual terms and obligations
Monitor compliance with scope, deliverables, and performance requirements
Support contract administration, including claims and dispute resolution
Identify contractual risks and provide mitigation strategies
Risk Management
Maintain and update risk registers
Identify project risks related to cost, schedule, and contractual issues
Conduct quantitative and qualitative risk analysis
Develop and monitor risk mitigation plans
Change & Claims Support
Assist in preparation and evaluation of claims related to delays, variations, or contract disputes
Provide supporting data for extension of time (EOT) claims or cost recovery
Analyze project delays and entitlement under contract provisions
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain comprehensive project control records, including schedules, cost reports, and variation logs
Ensure compliance with company standards, contractual requirements, and regulatory guidelines
Support internal and external audits
Collaboration & Stakeholder Coordination
Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Contract Teams, and Finance
Participate in progress, risk, and performance review meetings
Provide advisory support on cost, schedule, and contract-related matters
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or related field
Experience: 5+ years in project controls within engineering, construction, or EPC projects
Strong knowledge of:
Project scheduling and planning
Cost control and forecasting
Variation/change order management
Contract interpretation and Terms of Reference (TOR)
Earned Value Management (EVM)
Technical proficiency in:
Primavera P6 and/or MS Project
Advanced Excel
Key Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Solid understanding of contract law and project delivery frameworks
Excellent communication and stakeholder management
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
